Yes, they where popular, first all the cheerleaders had them, then every one started buying them, later they came out where they where tan (white is) blue(black is).
That brings back memories. I think they only cost $20.00.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but my mom (God rest her soul) always bought us new saddle oxfords for school. I hated those things-I called them clod hoppers.
I had a pair when I was a little kid. I only remember wearing them maybe once or twice. Probably because they weren't in style in the early 90's.................
I was slightly pigeon toed as a kid, in the early 60's the corrective shoes my parents bought were saddle oxfords. I absolutely hated them and the other kids called them "clodhoppers" and made fun of them. When I was a teen in HS they were all the rage! I still hated them and refused to wear them.
Oh I am deeply sorry for your foot problem (and the fact YOUR parents made you wear them, too). My folks made me wear them. Did they really call them clod hoppers?????????????????? That's what I called them back then!!!!!! It must've been a familiar term back then.
Great news with your feet. I work on my feet all the time, too. I hated wearing them, also. That's funny that they called them that, too. I called them that when I wore them. How I hated them, too! My mom always loved them!
