I understand. It can be very difficult for a teen with very strict parents. I can understand a parent's concern after being one. What is important is giving teens more respect, teach them proper safe decision making. My mother was strict just about wearing lipstick in jr. high, now this was 1960's, but I put the lipstick on at my girlfriend's house. There really was no danger here.

Both my sister's were very much like that. I'm proud you do obey. My mother was overly strict, so I often did harmless things she was against. I was much more strong minded, mature, using common sense. Thanks for your reply.

I learned by showing my own teen age kids trust, they respected that more, learned more, matured more. My mother would freak out over wearing lipstick to jr. high school. Of course it caused me to put it on anyway at a friend's house. Thanks for your input.

As a teen I was far more active socially then my sisters. My mother was very strict about harmless things such as rock & roll concerts, or wearing lipstick in jr. high. I did these things anyway because there was no harm in them.

I should have chosen angel. Anyway, I was a disgustingly good teen. When the others where out having sex, sneaking out & drinking. I was at home, behaving. Until I hit 16....then all hell broke lose :(

Considering the times I was a good daughter. No drugs, no alcohol, but my mother was overly strict. She caused me to sneak off to parties, wear lipstick, which was not at all harmful. Thanks for your input.

My Mom was also strict BUT she was also very open w/me, and we had the type of relationship where she trusted me & I didn't want to ruin that trust because I knew once I broke it, it was a done deal.

The real problem these days is drug and alcohol use. Parents have a lot to be concerned about. Prevention is not always the solution, but teaching, trusting children has to start at toddler age. Teens have to know the difference of what is safe or not safe for them to do.

LOL! My mom was so strict she would tell the local priest how bad I was. All I did was have harmless fun. My mom was so old fashioned.

My mother was very strict. I would sneak off to N.Y.C. with teen friends to see live Rock & Roll shows. My sisters were far more obedient. My mom forbid so much I had to sneak out. Boy did I have fun.! LOL!
