I think -- as is the case of many geniuses who've spoken darkly -- it would be hard to ascertain for certain what Twain's true beliefs were. I know he was critical of many religious conventions, doctrines, and of course most of what we'd call the outer religious trappings (as am I).

You may or may not be right, we just don't have enough evidence to go on, but I see, like science, it has afforded the Atheists wholesome returns of conjecture nonetheless.

Of course I have wondered as have very many have as well.It takes much study to come up with a concrete scenario of what happened before the big bang.Scientists study this and since what happened before it is impossible to study there is no concrete answers to this question.
I have often wondered about the need to believe in a supreme being outside of ourselves.We are an intelligent species and each one is fully in charge of their own destiny.Why question the how something is,instead of that it is?

I've heard from many scientists that the universe might have formed via the collapse of another universe into ours (via ejection from a expelling end of a black hole). Hmm...who knows.

Actually it is a person's choice whether to believe in a bieng controling the universe or that it is a concept void of reality.There is no categorical proof of a supreme bieng.

No proof, yes. But that is how God intended it to be. It is by faith alone you'll find God, my friend.
It's also a person's choice not to believe in God. Both are "leaps of faith", so to speak.

If one finds no need to believe in a higher bieng and is fully satisfied in their lives without such a belief why should they waste their time thinking about it ? Anytime there is a nonsensical threat of an imaginary place such as hell,it does not motivate people to believe,but more an incentive to reject such a belief,and a belief in anything else but themselves..
