things are bad enough for joe bloggs, and it can only get worse. the uk public will see our country fall back to living standards the victorians put up with ,except we will have tv telling us its not as bad as that. life in the uk will never be what it was. great country bad leadership, wouldn't mind so much but i voted for them, ive never been so disapointed by our politicians than over the last three years.

OMG! I believe U.S. citizens have had it so well in the past with high paying jobs and big houses that we weren't really too worried about what was going on in other countries around us. Large corporations found they could get work done that U.S. citizens did for a lot less in less developed countries. Just call about your Dell computer or your recent credit card transaction and you will not get an American on the other end. We required too much and now we have lost those customer support jobs. We send trees to other countries to build products so we can purchase those products back at a lower cost than we would if the trees stayed in the U.S. and the product was made here.
The worst and most pathetic reason our economy is shot has nothing to do with politics in general, and nothing at all to do with President Obama. It is the CEOs and leaders of these large corporations who are full of GREED. Greed is a sin and hopefully, one day, these greedy corporate tycoons will realize they will be paying for these crimes when they have no help from God when Satan comes for them. The rich just want to get richer. Isn't there a place where the rich can be happy and pay their employees better so that they too can have a better life. We shouldn't have to see people pushing grocery carts with plastic bags hanging all over them. We are a fabulous country. It is the pulling back and forth that gets us no where. One day people want no government involvement, then look what happens...Banks, Madaolf, etc. When the govenrment gets involved we blame the government. I think evey last person on Welfare or any type of government assisstance should have to work at least 4 hours a day doing something they are capable of doing. And if flipping a burger or picking up litter is what they can do then have them do it. Working in nursing homes, bookkeeping, sweeping floors, working in the parks, picking up dog doo, whatever, if they are physically or mentally capable make them do something. They may decide if they have to get up and work they might as well get a better paying job or go get a better education and get off the system. We could use that money for schools and pay our teachers better.

With Obama printing millions more then he is distroying each day, we are going downhill so far on the international monitary system we will be lucky if a dollar will buy us a single stick of gum by the time he is out of office in 2012 if he lives that long. Can't even think of president Biden or Pelosi. NO NO!

Think about the "brainwashing" you have gotten over the last year? All of a sudden we have to take care of our "brothers & sisters", Sounds like LBJ (yes I'm old enough to remember) The "great" society where those that can will provide for those who can get to be a "Mother" fast enough and provide "cradle to casket" coverage... "Black" was where it was at. (and no slam) It was a total "insult" and guess what? This idiot wants the same thing for his "brethern">>>>

Frankly with the moves government has made into the private sector and the precedents set thus far, the line separating public and private has become blurred. Why is the government allowed to take over or even give loans to organizations deemed "too big to fail"? Is it a sense of social obligation to keep the system from falling apart as they claim or simply to use the funds that would be spent on unemployment keeping those companies employees at taxpayer expense, so that the voting public believes things aren't going to fall apart and that everything's going to be alright?

There's no way to tell for certain, but if history tells us anything it's that once government sets a precedent it keeps trying to push further and further, this type of thing wouldn't have been possible almost 80 years ago during the great depression, but programs created out of the crisis of the time back then have since become major parts of the US government, welfare, unemployment, Social Security, and federal regulatory bodies such as the SEC to name a few.

The barriers have been weakened let's see just how far government can go before society tells them to back off.

Past administrations (the Bush's and Clinton) policies got us into the economic mess we are in with credit being extended to people who have no prayer of paying. To those who say our economy is based on credit all I can say is, "See what this notion has done to this great country!" I subscribe to what my father believed... If you can't pay for it then don't buy it. I hope Obama is right when he says he can pay off all the debt he's accumulating.

"Great Restructring" is closest of the offered verbage to describing the end result of the on going "changes" Obama and his czars are implementing. A more accurate statement would read . . . "Great Implosion"
How about tons of "Fiat Money" . . . moral decay of epidemic proportions . . . civil disobedience and mounting "theft of food for simple survival ??????
History is "loaded" with graphic and vivid recordation of the rise and fall of great nations all from the same "socio-conomic infections" that permeate the U. S. today. Mark my word.

Where is all this money coming from that the gov't is spending? Is'nt that what Hitler did in Germany, just kept printing until it was worthless? What good did it do to give the auto companys the loans, they are still going bankrupt? The country is already broke and they keep spending. If they can bail out the banks and car cos., why not put the money back in social security that congress stole from us?

It is unfortunate that so few politicians in Washington have no understanding of economics, political science or political philosophy. This economy is not about recession or depression it is about restructuring. It is about transforming a prosperous and successful free market economy into a socialist semi-command economy. It will not produce prosperity no matter how long it is tested. It will meet the same fate as Stalin's 5 NEP (new economic program).

It is a great snow job leading the American people to believe Obama is for the American people and this once great Nation when in fact he wants to bring it down to a Communist Nation. Look at all the signs. We are so controlled now we practically have no freedoms left. America, get your head out of the sand before we all become serfs.

I agree in some areas, but not health care. Health care should be guaranteed. The private sector in all it's greed has gotten us into such a situation that many cannot afford health care. I'm all for single payer health care. It works in other countries, it'll work here.
  • Chris winkieintn 2009/06/27 12:02:52

I think the many ridiculous lawsuits probably have alot to do with the high healthcare costs. The cost was just passed off onto us. Some lawsuits should have never been filed.

Right now they dont look like they know what they are doing with health care either because thats going up my employer raised my part of the priemum to 40.00 a week they use to pay 400.00 a month and I 100.00 now they pay 550.00 a month and I pay 160.00 they are supose to lower not raise it obama care is now costing me more and I dont even use it as for single payer health care go live in other countries like england that has it you will think ours is the greatest thats why people from other countries come here we have the best sorry (had the best) health care system
