Vanity plates can be a problem because of how different states DMVs read them. There has been problems with mistaken identities with such plates.

...in ohio you have to buy the plates every year! paying 100 dollars a year for new plates (plus your tags) just so your plate can say I RULE BRO is retarded.

I like seeing different license plates on people cars its unique. But i think people would have to pay more to get a actually word on there car.I would not buy a custom license plates when i get older. Because i dont really care what my license plates say as long its nothing stupid. Just as long as i have a car thats all that matters to me.

Well played out. However some of us legitimately use customized plates to identify ourselves in our communities with. Such as mine, mine shows that I am a member of the Volunteer EMS Squad.

My best friend loves his and I dont see a problem with it. Its a way of personalizing your vehicle and a nice touch for people who like to fix up their rides. Me, I take whatever plate they sell me at the courthouse. I write down the number and go with it. Tags are pricey enough without adding an extra charge to personalize it but thats me. I spend money on some things that people wouldnt.. Everybody has their thing. I respect that.

It's all about choice, whatever floats your boat, some like it, and some don't. A great many of my retired friends who have arrived by getting that luxury car of their choice, have set it off with the custom License plate of their choice. Choice, this is what makes people happy, and gives the the privilege to exercise their right. A lot of Americans are becoming quite judgmental and critical of others regarding their choices.
