I think it is insane. Perhaps, however, I could if Sandra Bullock was waiting for me on the other side of the fire with ice cubes and a promised not to leave until my feet healed! The pain might be worth it!
I have heard my dad say that growing up, he would say he"d walk through the fires of hell for his children..expressing his love for us...so, i would if i had to.
What if they jumped off the Empire State building, that doesn't mean I'm going to do that. TV is TV, watch it if you must but don't let it inspire you. I try to use logic in every aspect of my life. God and logic in many cases walk hand in hand but not all cases. TV and logic are light years apart most of the time but can be perceived logically and even as reality by people and that's how you get a Colorado type tragedy. However walking over coals is an innocent although painful type of motivational thing that people in that field use occasionally. I never understood the parallel between motivation/success and pain.
