Could you survive without the US Federal Government?

My family and i could survive without ANY government...

depends does that mean no government or each state governs them self because we already tryed the state one and every one agreed it does not work

We need a smaller government...not more programs that are going to fail

protect my country from those countries that mean us harm. Let the states handle the other stuff. Other then that, get the heck out of my business.

I could survive. I would not like the conditions I would be plunged into but I could probably survive... for a couple days until the nuclear warheads started falling and all of my food was poisoned.

My husband an I both worked for the same employer, he for 35 years, me for 10. We both counted on our pensions. The Gov't took over the pensions so the Europeans could buy it out and Uncle Sam cut our pensions more than in half. When my husband died they took away another 90% of his pension.
I'm handicapped and can't work anymore. Without Social security and the tiny gov't pension I'd be homeless and starving.
WHAT ABOUT ALL THE YEARS WE PAID IN TO THE PENSION FUND AND INTO SOCIAL SECURITY? We didn't plan to be dependent on the gov't, but I am. Am I a parasite in your eyes?

I haven't heard you suggest any alternatives for me yet. What can I do?
Remember the gov't cheated me out of 95% of my husband's full pension and out of 80% of my partial pension which WE earned and I counted on.
Where do I go from here? Without the Soc.Sec. that he and I BOTH paid into for over 40 years I will be homeless.
Even now I'm living on the edge of poverty. I have a little more coming in than would qualify me for any of the "hand-out" gov't programs. I eat at soup kitchens sometimes to save on my grocery bill. I can't afford to buy new clothes, I shop at thrift stores. I lost over 100 pounds over the last year and can't afford to buy underwear that fits. All my money goes to bills groceries and gas.

...because society wouldn't...and I'm too old to become a survivalist. I agree the fed gov. is bloated, but the organization of our systems relies on it.

Are you kidding?! No IRS, FDA, EPA, DOE or any of the thousands of money-sucking programs full of regulations we deal with now? 'THRIVE' is more the word.

I would be perfectly content living off the land without modern anything, including the government.

But if the government just went away right now, I'm not so sure. I live in a metropolitan area of a few million people. Metropolitan areas will likely collapse, everyone(myself included) within 50 miles of one will quickly have issues finding food. Death and disease will run rampant in struggling populated areas.... Head for the hills!

They do nothing for me now and I don't see them helping me in the future! So, YES.

It would be very difficult and unpleasant, a barter economy in an anarchy open to conquest and occupation. But unpleasant isn't the same as dead, and who knows? Learning Mandarin might not be as hard as they say....right?

My father never relied on government help, when I was growing up and we survived. We worked for our school clothes every summer. We picked onions, chile, cotton and pecans. My father always resisted welfare, even though we were poor. He was a self-employed mechanic and my mother only worked during the summer. We were a family of nine. We rarely got sick and thank goodness for that, cause my father would pay cash for all doctor visits. It is very possible to live without the government. I thank my father all the time for not getting us hooked on welfare. Most of my family are hard working individuals, who do not use the government programs.

My faith is not in man, man's system or man's government, my faith is in Christ... So yes..

I receive VA and Social Security Benefits from the federal government, I live in federal subsidized senior citizens housing, my medical care is through the VA. Could I live without all of that at my age, hmmm
