The first thing I learned when I came to America, how to get a full course meal from $2.50

No, and I have proof because that's all I get without having any side work. I'm on social security. I need about $300-500 more each month to actually make it; that is, eat good food (not exotic or overly expensive, just healthy, good food), pay for co-pays on Rx's, and the occasional new pair of shoes or whatever when the old ones are worn out. And this is totally without any recreational activities, mind you. Will need a little bit more extra. I do get part-time transcript work occasionally and that's how I've managed to live thus far, but it's been touch and go all the way. Stress will kill me soon, so then I won't have to worry anymore. Hah!

If it was just myself I was supporting I don't think it would be a problem at all. Since I am supporting my son through college it may be a bit hard to do but I don't think it would be impossible.

  • Aahz_OneAndOnly 2012/04/28 00:29:34

Just have to perform your own medical care, dental care and auto mechanics.
  • Kat 2012/04/26 15:55:24
It would barely pay my mortgage and condo fee.
  • meltrab9194 2012/04/26 15:42:11

I have dreams about 1000 a month right now!! My husband daughter and I have had a windfall of
unfortunate events since 2008 and we are just now getting to a 1000 a month does it seam like enough no still not enough but its possible thanks to government programs budgeting and family members! Before I had my daughter and married I lived off of 600 a month and I lived in a small colorado town priced a lot like aspen!
  • ToxicChili 2012/04/26 06:17:51
    Easily, ive lived on less.
  • exsecrare 2012/04/26 06:09:36
Although it would be far from easy, considering I'd have to support myself, my wife and my daughter.

As long as I live without rent, mortgage or a car sure... I know people who manage to do it, they're all grad students (some of them receive no assistance from their families).
  • Matt 2012/04/26 00:41:22

What's with SH today ? grrr... I voted NO !

No, I could not. Not living anywhere near comfortably and definitely not in New York.
  • Matt lady blue 2012/04/26 00:42:52
Exactly, wouldn't really be easy living here with a thousand dollars either XD
I'm a survivor so I would manage it, but it would be hard... XD

I know right Matt ? We are both from expensive states so it's tough.
Factoring in overhead of course. Otherwise put $ 1,000 in my wallet without rent
or mortgage and I could do a happy dance for a month ! LoL ..
