The Indianapolis Colts are praying they have far better luck this season, after an abysmal 2011 campaign. Actually, they will... sort of. According to ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Colts have informed Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck that he will be selected No. 1 overall by the team. Of course, poor Luck will have his hands full with one of the worst teams in the league.
He will also be filling the gigantic, legendary shoes of former quarterback Peyton Manning, who was released by the team and is now on the Denver Broncos -- within the same conference as the Colts (AFC). Although, anyone with reasonable thinking should understand Manning didn't become Manning overnight and if Luck ends up living up to his highly hyped potential, that could still take time. Besides, the Colts had largely the same team they had without Manning last year and suffered greatly -- but as many analysts have said -- Manning doesn't play defense.
According to ESPN's league sources, the Washington Redskins will select quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III. Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson says his team has a plan for the No. 1 draft pick, but would not confirm nor deny the Luck rumors. At age 22, the sky is the limit for Luck, who is a two-time All-American, 2011 Orange Bowl MVP, 2011 Maxwell Player of The Year award winner, and two-time Heisman Trophy finalist. But make no mistake about it: The Colts have a long way to go before they're back to their winning ways -- no matter who the team drafts.

Prior to Peyton Manning joining the Colts, they were losers. You could pencil them in every year to NOT make the playoffs. Google it. No one talked about the Colts outside of Indianapolis or Baltimore for that matter. Karma was a bitch!
But all that changed. Baltimore got a new team and the football Gods shined their light once again on the Colts. Peyton Manning was a savior. Despite only winning just one Superbowl, they went twice and were always in playoffs vying for a title.
So how does a franchise that traded one of the greatest quarter backs in history (Johnny Unitas) to San Diego at the end of his career treat another great quarterback at the end of his? The exact same way! Sure sports are a business, but players like Peyton Manning transcend all of that. Looks like the Irsay's will never learn... Karma is a bitch and she's back in Indianapolis.
