Most people's reason for being scared of clowns go back to pennywise the clown of "IT"

Frankly, I couldn't get scared of that clown, case he was clearly Tim Curry, and unfortunetly I watched "Rocky Horror Picture Show" first and that scared me more then that clown!
Supposed to make circus-goers laugh, first I do not go to circuses after learning how the animals are treated and second, it's a better disguise than a ski mask. How do you really know who is behind all of that paint and fake nose and all?
i have not ever liked clowns. when they do performances and are bouncing and tumbling and juggling and dancing, i always think, how much better this would be if they were dressed nice and showing their faces.. or if they were dressed like other circus performers in tight leotards that show off their bodies.. instead of hiding their faces with the scary oni make up and swollen noses..
Times change but not necessarily for the better. For close to two generations this guy could make audiences split their sides laughing without uttering a single cussword:
My sister was deathly afraid of clowns as a child. She still has a phobia as an adult. I told her a sure fire way to rid herself of it was to dress up as a clown sometime, with full makeup and costume. Then just look at herself in a mirror for awhile to see there's nothing scary there.
I don't like clowns!
You missed this guy but he was known & loved by kids in America for almost a decade:
