The tempo of classical music downshift your brain to the creating frequencies.

The 4 tempos of regular music depends on the rhythm to affect you, but will always be inferior to classical.

    Rap decreases your IQ.

There's SO much classical music. It's the largest genre of music there is. To label it ALL as "boring" is an oversight.

Did you know classical (baroque) music helps open your mind, It helps you retain what you are studying. look it up on the Internet. There are many studies that have proven this. So if you are in school try studying while listening to Baroque Classical music. It really works.

As with anything, some os brilliant and some is boring. While popular music with lyrics is like a book with pictures, classical music is like a book without pictures. It's like comparing a silent movie to one with an audio track. The harder part is to tell the story without the benefit of words. That takes talent, setting the stage and portraying the characters, too, with the instruments alone. Some did it well--Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Wagner, Grieg and others.

Some of the stuff is awesome, amazing, timeless, brilliant, and an absolute joy to hear. Franz Listz - "Hungarian Rhapsody" is my favorite. Strauss' waltzes are really good, Chopin did the piano rather nicely. I even found out, when I bought an album of Mozart's Greatest that Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star was his. Good music can be identified by anybody that listens. Unfortunately, some things that are called music, seem to be misidentified.

Mahler, Brahms, Elgar, Liszt, Beethoven, Saint-Saens, Chopin, Schubert (my favourite), Mozart, come on. Music like theirs is unparalleled. It's pure artistic expression, it expresses emotions without words, which is something I have yet to see any modern musician achieve.

classical music - never has vocals , is this yet another thing that has changed in the past 20 years after I left school ...the way art is categorized ? It would not be the first time I was out of date and using a set of criteria that had been standard FACTS for a hundred years but are now not in fashion in modern universities LOL
  • Adam W Franklin 2012/01/25 11:50:37 (edited)

Classical music includes vocals. It always has, and to say otherwise is wrong. For example, how about the Fourth Movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony? Schubert's Lieder? Strauss's Four last Songs? All Opera? Classical music is not solely instrumental, nor even defined by what instruments are used. "Classical" as a style, is a very broad term, and can be broken into many smaller periods. The "Classical" music periods are Baroque (1600-1750), True Classical (1750-1820), Romanticism (1820-1900), 20th Century, and Modernism. Opera is by definition "A dramatic work in one or more acts, set to music for singers and instrumentalists." If the music within is "classical" music, it is a classical opera (Mozart, Wagner, Rossini, etc.) and as such, is classical music. Those are most certainly facts. Look it up if you do not believe me.

O silly me I was only baseing my opinion on the facts I learned from my father and god father ...what would patrons of the New York Philharmonic and founders of the Palm Beach Symphony know . -I grew up around people who where deeply passionate about classical music and unlike the hundreds of people who view the subject from a distance they where actually involved in its propagation and proliferation over a span of 75 years . But I am sure that whatever is posted on WIKI is far more accurate than anything I may have gotten from a man born in 1919 and his boss ...I will add burning the original 78's my father had commissioned to my to-do list today as his views on music categorization where wrong ...LOL@political debate with man who advocates for Italian OPINION on what classical IS -

I do know classical music, take piano lessons from a teacher who studied at the Kiev, and Kazan conservatories, (Horowitz?) and do indeed know what I'm talking about. You can find what I told you in music books, history books, and yes, even Wikipedia. Because it is true.

    Classical music is hardly boring.

I can understand people not being into it, but that is no reason to call such brilliance 'boring' as 60 votes have currently done.
