Classical Music: Brilliant or Boring?

Depends on your mood. Classical isn't my main music but it is a very good genre

I love Mozart, Beethoven and Vivaldi the most. =)

Only when it's converted into gothic metal form like Nightwish. Classical Rock is enjoyable.

Ya know I just turned 50 and have been a rocker for as long as I can remember. Nightwish has got to be one of the most versatile bands on earth. I may not be completely familiar with all of their music, but all I know is that I really enjoy their hard slamming guitar rifts and a crazy fast drummer.

Aint that the truth.

I don't understand how some people can't appreciate the beauty of classical music.

Classical music soothes the soul.

I prefer thrash metal. But people have different opinions. I personally think it is boring, but that is not to say I think it is rubbish. It is a music of a period of time like all others, but it is just how old it is and how long it has survived with listeners that makes it special.

It was the peak in musical history. Although there are some amazing modern artists, overall music has been on a steep decline the past 2 or 3 decades.

I find that people who cannot see the beauty in classical music to be the most dull and uninspired people I know.

Beethoven kicks Bieber's ass any day of the week!

I adore the era of Romanticism especially (my favorites are Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Adam)!
And to all "modern" music lovers (who hate classical music)... Respect classical music even if you don't like it. Because if we hadn't have Beethoven and Mozart composing masterpieces, we would never have a base for Bieber either. Though I must admit I do enjoy listening to more modern music too (yes, even Lady Gaga).

Classical music is coming back big time.

The only reason Classical music is seen as strange or culturally alien to most of us is because it's not omnipresent in the charts and widely exposed to radio play where the public can develop a taste for it. But the funny thing is, once you start exploring it, you'll be able to tell different composers and instrumentalists apart the way most of us can tell different singers or rock bands apart. It's definitely an acquired taste for many people, but there's a whole new world of richly rewarding and challenging art to be enjoyed there. Part of getting into classical music is figuring out which subgenre or period you enjoy the most. I especially love the late Romantic and early 20th century stuff.
