I use multicolor lights on a small Christmas tree that I set on my porch, everything else is white lights.

Don't use them. It is a horrible waste of electricity when you are off the grid.

And lots of them. When I look around at neighborhood houses this time of year, it makes me happy to see the colors and variety. One neighbor makes these elaborate balls of lights and he's added to them every year. Another neighbor does beautiful Victorian swags of lights around her eaves and fences. Since we live near a greenbelt with our backyard faces the creek, we're trying to lead by example and put lights in back. Wouldn't it be nice to walk or ride along the bike path at night and see pretty lights?

a lot of colors can be festive and exciting but sometimes the simplicity of one color is neat

I like to use alot of different colors usually, and then the following year I use one specific color to change it up from the year before.

I've always been partial to one color. White, however this picture with blue lights is stunning. Good job, Happy holidays, and a vety Happy New Year.
