I've always been really afraid of open water. Before I could swim, I almost drowned because I was pulled away in a tide and the lifeguard couldn't see me. I learned to swim after that, but I always get really nervous so I'm not too good.

I taught myself how to swim actually, my dad and mother tried to teach me though, but eventually I learned how to swim on my own. Almost every fundamental thing I've known as a kid, I taught myself. I taught myself how to read at the Age of 4 (I once read the entire Allentown, PA Phonebook, cover to cover when I was around 5 or so.), taught myself Piano, taught myself how to write before the 1st grade. I've been a story writer since I was in the 5th grade. I taught myself both drums and swimming.

I'm okay but I wouldn't go any long distance. I tried to, get this, dog-paddle across a large local pond when I was a teenager. Thank goodness for that canoe that was out there!
Won't do that again. Young and stupid at the time. Everyone else was swimming across, so I joined in like the young, naive teen I was. Learned quick after that how to really swim.

I've been swimming my whole life. When I was little, my great grandparents helped me learn how to go underwater without plugging my nose, and I had some swim lessons. The rest is just practice, I guess. The more you swim and try different things, the better you get. I taught myself how to dive, how to back flip off the diving board, the breast stroke, floating on my back...it all gets easier with practice.

I L-O-V-E swimming. I want to go swimming for my birthday next month but when I asked my friend Alissa if we should go to the Aquatic Center or the movies, she said the movies because she doesn't like the Aquatic Center. -_- Oh well, the movies are less expensive anyway.

I was a Los Angeles County Lifeguard many moons ago. I am very comfortable in the water. I used to surf and still do bodysurf.

They hold swimming classes for super cheap at my local pool. Later, I tested what I learned in the ocean, it worked well. Swam with southern stingray as well, a real docile breed.
