Just because they're rooming together, does not necessarily mean they're going to "do the deed." I'm pretty sure most coed dorms discourage sexual activity anyway.

Self control and level of attraction to each other play a big role.

Amazingly, I do not want to have sex with every guy I know, not even all of my friends. So I would be able to have a male friend as a roommate and not have sex with him. I know, I have incredible restraint.

I prefer women as roommates. They tend to be cleaner, pay the rent on time, pay the utilities on time, and flush the toilet after each use.

Some of the more fundamentalist folks I knew had an issue with this, but with any roommate, we were both adults and had our own separate and busy lives. I want my rent paid and my condo not destroyed at the end of a lease.

Not saying completely since there was no depends or undecided but I am voting on the majority at some point and depending how long (there again, factors) they have lived together can lead into some sexual activity between each other. In cases where it doesn't, can people honestly say they have not thought about the other always in a non-sexual way and it really applies if there's some attraction or chemistry there.

Yes, agreed! I lived with a woman for about a year never had a thought about it. Then I noticed we both started having a reaction when we shared space/time together. It turned out to be a sexual tension, we had to change the relationship; me moving or us sleeping together.

I have known several. Actually it's how my brother met his wife. She was roommates with my ex boyfriend (we remained friends after the breakup) any who..they lived together in college, completely platonically.

It is possible! There are SOME people that actually do have self control and don't always think with their other "parts"!

Yes, it's not like every pair of heterosexual people of the opposite sex are automatically attracted to one another. Now, if I were mutually attracted to a male roommate, that would be harder to abstain.

Yes, what kind of stupid question is that?~ ._.

hey there, this is a friend of this girl. and my opinion is that i think two individuals can share a room if there both heterosexual because there might not be an attraction!

People aren't animals; just because they live together doesn't mean they're forced somehow to have sex. People of opposite sexes can be platonic friends so yes, they can be roommates without sex entering into the equation.

Of course it IS possible. However, if they are both young and physically attractive to one another, human nature being what it is , makes it rather unlikely, in my opinion.....

Of course they can. Just because you share a home it doesn't mean you have to want to sleep together. A friend is a friend, gender doesn't come into it. A room mate should be just that. I have male friends who I'd prefer to share a home with than my female ones. For a start - not of my male friends would want to borrow my clothes etc. nor I thiers.
