I asked for so many books this Christmas. But topping my list are Grimm's Fairytales and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, which I read on my Kindle but loved it so much I want a real copy.
I think books are an awesome gift though Id make sure what kind of books they are interested in before buying one for someone. I love to read but give me a plain romance novel and I will be out cold by the end of the first chapter.
it depends on the people you're giving it to.
if that person hates books and never liked reading. then my friend you are in trouble :P
he may think it's insulting.
but to people who loves books, you're on the right track :)
Yesterday , at my daughter's birthday , she got one pregnant doll , 8 books , 2 trousers .
She wanted books especially , to prevent gift clothes . She hugged her books to bed at sleep time :)) That makes them great gifts , haa ?
yes . there is a small baby in her belly . She liked it very much & named the little baby " gift " as it is a gift within another gift . Her boy cousin loves to play with her with this pregnant doll since yesterday .
I love books although this is one gift I never usually receive, but last year I got my mom a first edition of Men to Move My Mountains and she really loved it.
I dont think the younger generation are into reading book much but the oldies love their books. I think reading books is sorta just going out of fashion now! Its a shame with all the new technology taking over. If your gunna buy a book for someone they would have to be middle aged or older i reckon. Although there probaly are children out there who love reading books.
You couldn't be further from the truth. All of my friends and I read a lot. Personally I read between two and three books a week, though I managed to read all the Harry Potter series in one week and the five John Green books the following weekend.
LOL...bookworm! Everyone has their own thing! and i you like reading books then thats what you like. Some people really enjoy the thrill of using their own imagination when theyre reading and some people dont. Personally i just cant sit their and concentrate to read. I feel that i have to be constantly doing something with my hands
Eighteen, and an avid reader. I know my sister, who's four years younger, grew up in a group of "I hate reading" complainers, but other than that, you were way off the mark.
Everyone has their own choice and their own likes. I dont think im off the mark because i know nothing lasts forever and slowly things go outta fashion because we replace them with other things e.g in the early 60 they only had books to find information and people had to look through several books to find out what they needed. Today we have the internet and we can practiacally search everthing at one time. It takes a few minutes its quick and convinent. I mean try going to a bloody library to search find something out. First you have to drive their then you have to go in the section of the books you need to and so on...... lol
You have got to be kidding me. I know people of every age who treasure reading. Not only does it expand your vocabulary and exercise your mind; studies show that reading a good book is one of the quickest stress relievers. You have your classics, your text books (which some people do read for fun), your memoirs, your fantasy, your horror, your teen lit, your children's books, your sappy romance, and your "philosophical" inspiration books. Now please, try to find an age group that doesn't show any interest in any of these. My goodness, I've met Twilight fans who have a better understanding of good reading material than you.
Lol i think alot of people are taking my opinion way too literally. After all it is just an onpinion. I find that i just cant sit down and concentrate to read a whole book. Ive tried it several times, When I went to school which wasnt that long ago and all my friends now too just dont like reading a book , however its diffrent to reading something on the internet or on ur ipad or iphone. And what i meant to say in my opninion b4 was that not evreyone is keen on books, some people are and some are just not like me! And trust me it is going out of fashion, in todays world the internet gives us much of the info we need for everything, We dont have to waste time going through dozens of books to find the right answer. Also ive seen that younger moms and parents use their iphones and ipads to read stories to their children which have exactly the same developmental needs for their children as books. and not only are the applications cheap and convnient but the dont cost as much as childrens books do. Nothing lasts forever everthing eventually goes out of fashion
I'm not saying that eBooks an iPads are bad; in fact, they can be more convenient. I was just a little shocked when you said that someone would probably have to be middle age to enjoy a book for a gift. I'm a teenager, and books are at the top of my list every Christmas. In fact, I got four this year, one of which is already finished, and the other I'm about a fourth of the way through.
I love getting good books as gifts.
