I place a very high value on honesty and trust. We may not agree on everything but as long as we are honest the trust will be there.

Myself I had a problem with lying. My partner was patient until all patience ran out. It costed me a 3 and a half year relationship and a future marriage to the one who loved me. I carefully looked at myself and I saw I had an underlying problem of immaturity and fear which lead me to lie because I didn't want to disappoint. People can change if they learn true values of a relationship.

i don't blame people for "lying" about personal things that would be dangerous to disclose, things about themselves or their body they can't come to terms with and are terrified of anyone else knowing in case they'd get rejected (STDs are a different matter tho)

I have known a ton of people of both genders who have cheated on their partners. Eventually all of them found a partner they really cared about, and stuck with them. I was sceptical until it happened as well. I had a friend who would cheat on every single boyfriend with the next boyfriend, then move on with new boyfriend for a while until she cheated on him. Eventually she got with my ex and I thought *she'll just cheat on him too* but no, she's been with him for four years now. People do change for someone important to them.

Once a liar always a liar...and once you have been lied to...the trust goes straight out the window...but it all depends on the lie...a small one that hurts nobody is ok..but the bigger and blacker the lie...its a no-no

Even if they swear they are telling the truth you will most likely not trust them again. It has taken years for me to believe my son after years of lying to me and he knows he has no one to blame but himself.
