'Balls of Fury' had a poll about blocking that got me thinking and I edited part of my comment as it was too far off-topic. I thought I would make a quick blog with that snippet though!

Sadly it's done by 'all' sides. And sometimes those of us in the middle get it from everywhere! =) As far as blocking to stop someone from responding in a legitimate poll/thread (real discussion as opposed to troll polls) to me that makes no sense. Well actually it makes little sense in any case.

I have 3 perma-blocks that are almost a year old and will never come off. Occasionally I'll block someone that is really obnoxious/insulting and is doing the 'comment-block-unblock-comment and block again' crap. Silly stuff like that. After a day or two I unblock them and likely we've both forgotten all about each other by then!

Oddly enough I run across people all the time that have me blocked and for the most part I don't even 'know' them! I find that strange because...although I can sometimes be a sarcastic bitch (usually in defense - excluding troll polls) I come armed with researched information and a fair understanding of the topic. I rarely name-call anymore but I also rarely back down when others are being, IMO, asshats. OH! Maybe that's the problem!!! j/k

So to all those that have me blocked... mea culpa and have nice day... seriously!

Those who blocked me disapprove of my occasional use of slang. I have been called uneducated for several different reasons, which is laughable. I have tons of book smarts, ya'll! I am just common senseless

I have been blocked a few times by people who want me to say what they want to hear not what I think. I am not sure why they just don't answer their own posts so they don't have to block someone who doesn't see it the way they do.

I don't block anyone, I welcome the debates!! Those who do block are obviously the closed minded ones.....that's why they block us. If you don't believe what they believe, they have no use for you(and they're supposed to be the 'tolerant' ones!) I don't give a rip if anyone 'blocks' me.

I guess the blocking thing is a problem on the site. I haven't really encountered anything like. I don't have anyone blocked, and it makes me wonder where exactly all these arguments are happening that cause people to block and downrave each other, because I haven't seen very many, only one or two.

I have one person that has me blocked that I'm aware of, and it has me puzzled, because I've never said two words to the guy, except to answer his polls. So it kinda pisses me off, but eh, whatever.

I just figure that if they have me blocked then they must not be worth my time.

Hmmm I never noticed that. I rarely downrave anyone but next time I do I'll check it out; it might be a new 'feature'. =)

There was a massive block done by a group of people and I was suddenly blocked by a bunch of people that I didn't know. It seemed to happen at once. Maybe you were part of that.

I don't know if you remember but last year I wrote a very sharp and sarcastic -private- email to someone on SH that was viciously attacking friends. She copied it, pasted it and *edited it* into a blog adding language I've never ever used in my life including the 'n' word several times (I didn't know or even consider her race, only her actions). In less than an hour someone sent me a link and I screen printed the *actual* sent mail and posted it to the blog. It was a few hours of hell and me being attacked by dozens of people that didn't know me and refused to believe the actual screen print.I offered to forward them the actual email but most refused. Since then I've come across many dozen of blocks from people I still don't know!

I also remember the mass blocking last year but don't remember the cause... it was about someone's group I think.

This was about a month ago. I don't see the purpose of blocking someone who has an opposing view. Unless they do vicious or vile things like your e-mail I don't see the point. There are some very mean people on here who will stoop really low to cause mischief. I don't think they have a real life and I'm glad I don't know them in real life.
