To me, the B&W; photos require more use of my imagination there's a level of intimacy I have to reach within for that's different than of those in color. Hard to explain but easy to feel. ;-)
Cute factor is through the roof on this shot.

I love B&W; with a splash of red and he's cute enough to gobble up!

Every beautiful line tells a story!

Yes He does

in fact .. have done this for many a decade ..
(and still have my own Parents' cameras .. from back in the 1940s .. 1930s .. they STILL work!)
I load my own film into reusable canisters ..
I develop my own filmstrips/negatives ..
I've also developed my own prints as well ..
(and have exhibited them too)
I still can and do teach others how to develop BW Film ..
mix the chemicals myself ..
(It is easy once you master the times for iso speeds .. and film brand/chems)
I do now have to have help for focusing (which I can't do)
but I still know how to mix the chemicals for wet-developed prints as well ..
There's a vibrance .. a tonal quality .. a sense of "color" that those shades of light and dark .. all the variations on the greys bring out that Color can't copy at all ..
it is a living memory ..
a connection with the Wonders of the PAST ..
something that FEW know how to do nowadays ..
and how to time your actions between the trays ..
it really is EASY to learn how to manage a Developer ..
and expose your film to form a print ..
(I teach this to others .. the darkroom is familiar indeed to me .. )
Needless to say .. the sighted are amazed always .. and still!
that I, blind .. navigate the darkroom with confidence ..
it is when they see me outside the darkroom and see my cane ..
that they just get shocked ....
