According to legend, on Sunday, July 26, 1879, Billy the Kid---or rather Billy 'Kid' Bonney as he was known then---was staying at the Old Adobe Hotel in Hot Springs, near Las Vegas, New Mexico Territory. Around dinner time, a friend of Billy's and bartender for the hotel's saloon, Dr. Henry F. Hoyt, entered the dining room to see Billy involved in a card game. Spotting Hoyt, Billy hailed him over to the table. Jovial as ever, Billy seemed to be getting on particularly well with a man to his side, a man who was noticably missing the tip of his right middle finger. When the man made a comment on something Billy said, Billy remembered his manners and introduced the man to Hoyt as "Mr. Howard, from Tennessee." The fellows continued their card game and within the next few days, Mr. Howard left the area, never to be seen in the vicinity again. Once Mr. Howard's departure was assured, Billy confided in Hoyt that Howard was in truth none other than famed Missouri badman Jesse Woodson James, scouting New Mexico Territory as a possible setting for relocating his family. Furthermore, Jesse had even invited Billy to accompany him back East to join the new gang he was intent on forming, though Billy turned the offer down, claiming train robbery wasn't really his game.

I have heard more about jesse james than billy the kid Jesse James robbed the bank in the town I live in and stayed in a farmhouse close to where I grew up. Each mans fame may be a regional thing I drove through lincoln county NM and saw the area that Billy the kid (william Bonnet) was killed in by Pat Garret Im glad I didnt live in those days where a man could be shot down at the drop of a hat .

Billy The Kid was used by the men around him. Shoved into an all out war and he fought like a man. He was very intelligent. Probably would have made a good college professor.

Jesse James was a burnt out southerner on a mission of revenge. He had no respect for post Civil War rule. Which is fine. I mean it's turned out to be so heinous for so many. Black and white.

Billie the Kid was a murderer and a pervert. He once waited in the hot, hot sun, for several hours, to be successful in bushwhacking a farmer/rancher and his wife, in order to steal their egg-money that didn't amount to even $2.00 total. It is said that Billy The Kid had a head that was larger than his shoulders . . . It is believed that he was born with "water-on-the-brain" and that his learning skills were somewhat limited in capacity. Jesse James, however, was so difficult to catch, because he shared his "Wells Fargo gifts" with local friends, who claimed to Railroad Supervisors and Detectives that they never saw him at all. Jesse James hated the Railroad for what they did to the farmers/ranchers property . . . When the Governor of Oklahoma put a bounty on Jesse James, Dead or Alive, he knew that one of the James Boys' friends would collect the prize; even if it meant shooting their own buddy in the back . . . Which Bob Ford did . . . "That crazy little coward who shot Thomas Howard; layed poor Jesse in his grave." . . .

He's the one I know most about, so I'm gonna say him. But, then again, Billy is pretty famous too. Actually, I hear Billy is a revenant. :P
