Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and the US not far behind are a huge threat more than Iran because we are refusing to get the debt under control and keep on spending more than we take in!
Greece has two options, shape up or ship out of the Euro zone. Once either of these possibility's has taken place the "problem Greece" is not a problem anymore.
Iran however, the situation there could easy bring a new war for the USA and their European allies which will cost billions in dollars and euro's, that will raise the oil price and that will set relations between the EU/USA on one side and Russia/China/the Middle east on a sharp edge.
Greece! If Greece defaults or goes bankrupt it will like a line of domino's take the other weak EU economies with them and then the rest of the EU. If the EU collapses the US economy follows or at least falls back into the depression we're just coming out of. If we default or go slow pay we will end up paying China higher interest rates on borrowed money and then we all get screwed.
Iran is a white head pimple on the ass of the world. Seriously what threat does Iran pose? Even with "A" nuclear weapon the consequences of its use would devastate Iran for hundreds of years. The Arab nations around Iran will do nothing to interfere with an Israeli counter strike should they use that weapon against Israel. If Iran tries to close the Straits of Hormuz it will be closed for a week. By doing so Iran will cede the eastern half of its territory to the US or a combined allied force with their Arab neighbors doing nothing to stop it. Iran likes to sabre rattle and the Right Wing in this country jumps to that rattle like a Mexican maraca dance.
This is somewhat similar to Greece in scale. Greece's economy is wholly irrelevant to the rest of the planet, but if they're allowed to go down, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and others could follow. It's a potential catalyst for big problems. If we get into a war with Iran, the consequences would be vast. If we had never gotten into war with Iraq, things would be a lot different today. Iran is more consequential than Iraq, though neither pose any real threat to us and never have. Gas would probably be $6.00/ gallon for a while for starters.
If Israel strikes Iran we will have many other nations involved, and world chaos. United States needs to send Prime Minister Netanayhu back to Israel with a huge NO, we won't back you or do your dirty work striking Iran. Greece will become economically strong again and are no war mongers.
Actually, right now, we are. We have too many regulations that handcuff the ability of our great corporations to power the engine of supply and demand. Still, our jackass leaders continue to create more and more rules by which to increase their own power. We need to take this country back from the politicians and give it to the people. RP 2012
