Hey, we took that drive today! Started the day early at Mt. Rushmore (body clock still set to Eastern Daylight time) and were glad we did, the line was really long when we left. Then we took that road trip. We saw some pronghorns, and some really wild (not) buffalo and burros that people were feeding and messing with. Next week is the Sturgis rally and there are bikes everywhere. The scenery was just spectacular and I wanted to thank you for suggesting it! :-)
You are so welcome - I'm glad you enjoyed it! When we went we also saw pronghorn and "wild" burro's. One walked right up to the truck and put his head in the window! It is such an awesome place... Enjoy!!!
i'm from California so i guess "visited" doesn't count.
i'd say Oregon... Oregon is super beautiful and has so much to offer. spent lots of time in and around the Portland area... awesome city life w/ loads of things to do, the coast or mountain skiing an hour or so away. Great downtown experience... lots of art galleries and places to eat along w/ grand people watching. there's more microbreweries than any other city in the USA there... and they seem to have their public transportation down (love the MAX). Mt. Hood hosts some amazing summer as well as winter activities. The coastline is gorgeous... forests right up along the beach but don't expect the summer hot sandy experience most of the time, bring a sweater... it's not Los Angeles/Hawaii :-)
I've been to many other states... Nevada, Texas, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, Colorado, Utah and while every place i've visited has it's own special something, it seems that Oregon has it all!!!
(i live there but it is by far the best!)
I like South Dakotas Black Hills region, Utah, Colorado for sure... and Northern California.
