You would be wrong about that....Steak n Shake is considered fast food, as it is a drive thru with a full menu, and well as an eat in restaurant,,,just like all the rest listed here....

Isn't that the truth!!! I bought two of them and fed 5 great grandsons and myself and wife.

If a person were to eat one by themselves, which has been done, It would be like eating an entire months worth of fat at one sitting. Or like my grand son said "Papa, that's enough to grease the whole car for a year!"

Jucy's Burger here in East Texas. We don't go very often but their meat is just perfect with lots of fresh veggies. Plus they have complementary beans. :)

Even though. I have found out since I posted the question, that Five Guys does have locations in and around Austin I never heard of them. After reading the responses concerning Five Guys, I am definitely going to have to give them a try.

I like the fire-grilled burgers at BK better than any others listed. We have several local ones that I like better than BK. Short Stop also fire grills their burgers. A&W; is everywhere, but it was my favorite burger as a kid along with their root beer and is still high on my list. We have P Terry's, which is fast food with a drive-in, but focus on organic goodness, including a pretty good vege burger. And finally, Malcom Baldridge award winner Mighty Fine, al,though they don't have a drive through, so I'm not sure they qualify as fast food. I think they do, though.

We were not too impressed by Mighty Fine and have yet to try P Terry's but as a whole the burgers in and around Austn are killer! We love the Road House in Bastrop

If you don't like Mighty Fine, you may not like P Terry's. To me, the meat is similar. All fresh meat and nothing but meat. Little or no salt and fat or anything else to affect the flavor. My kids like both of them and my wife and daughter swear by the vege burger at P Terry's. I still think McD's has the best tasting French Fries and BK and Short Stop have the best tasting burgers.
