I'm pretty damn attractive without makeup, and I'm very confidant in this.I still love wearing the stuff.

I'm sure they feel insecure to and need something to hide behind. If makeup makes them more confident, then so be it. Besides, beauty shouldn't even be based upon appearances, all that matters is personality.

Make up can also be used for self expression as well as enhancing features.

The woman is beautiful the makeup enhances that natural beauty and make up is a beautiful thing on it's own it doesn't always have to be related from hiding your natural beauty.

Make-up isn't only used to hide behind. It's used to accentuate features, or as a form of expression. I've seen some extremely creative and gorgeous make-up, especially eye make-up.
Besides, if someone wants to cover up features they don't like, what's the problem? If covering up something they hate makes them feel more confident and happier about themselves, then I say go ahead. It's better than sitting around, moping about how ugly you think you are.

People do the same with clothing and no one says a word about it. People are taught every day about how to dress to fit their shape or height or colour. Why should make-up be different?

Actually, a while back some make-up company (I think it was Maybelline) did a series of posters with quotes from women saying why they wear make-up. I can't find them anywhere though.
