I say if these are the best candidates that our political system can offer us for
President of the USA, then our system is in dire need of some kind of over haul!

Ron Paul is the best, and he should get the nomination, but since America has been so intent on electing the mediocre more and more over the past century, we may not be that lucky to get him as one of our choices.

Ron Paul would be the best, but the media and those that fear his ways and what he says drive away as the majority is needed, eh?

It's what we're stuck with. We need a viable third party in America! We need to somehow break the Democratic/Republican monopoly on U.S. politics.

The very process of politics creates and attracts psychopaths. We need to look at alternative methods of 'government', like individual SELF-government in some form.

No, not the best for us, but apparently the best for the corporations and 1% that own us. If they hired a smart guy, one who really cared about the people or the country then they'd be sunk. So, these are the very best for them. They're wetting their pants over Romney. They can't believe their luck in finding that piece of work.

The very best... for the mega corporations and international banking interests. For you and me, the absolute worst. But it's not worth debating because we have no power to decide who our "leaders" are anyway.

The Republican Party isn't about to put up their star candidate against an incumbent President. You typically see the strongest candidates gain financial support from their parties during open elections, or every 8 years. While I think Obama has been a good President (not great, but good), I also think he went through a field of very tough candidates in 2008, and you will see another round of tough dems in 2016, and a lot tougher Republicans in 2016 too. Bachmann? Cain? Perry? Gingrich? Come on. This was a clown show. When you start seeing candidates like Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio then we'll know the real show has started.

Don't be TOO surprised if he walks away from Tampa with the nomination. I've heard that THAT is the plan and the reason Ron Paul was allowed to have a say.

Yeah! Another Bush! Let's see. Prescott Bush was declared a war criminal, George HW Bush was the head of the CIA when all the cocaine was brought into the US, and W was the sidekick of Cheney, who orchestrated the theft of 100 Billion in gold under the WTC (which Jeb ran security for).

Yeah! Another Bush! That's ALL we need!

It doesn't matter though, whether the PARTY Republican or PARTY Democrat is "elected" as both are GUARANTEED to continue the destruction of this once great Republic.

Jeb Bush is very popular in his party. Up until this past March, there were at least 3 separate marketing firms doing push polls in Florida and several other swing states that had included Jeb Bush in their popularity rankings. But Jeb knows what every other establishment Republican knows. If you want to put your best foot forward as a POTUS candidate, don't do it against an incumbent. Wait another 4 years.

Sadly, I haven't seen anything better. Look at the 3-ring circus that competed for the Republican nomination this year. The only one who made any sense was Buddy Roemer, and naturally making sense disqualified him in the party's eyes. They wouldn't even let him into the debates.

Americans--but conservatives in particular--had other choices. They weren't mature/moral enough to accept them.

So in a sense both answers are correct. We had better choices, but the two sock puppets mentioned above are the best we could do.

They're the very best that corporate lobbyists and special interest groups can buy.

There are a couple of other worthwhile candidates out there... that the media refuses to cover.

    Gary Johnson and Ron Paul.
