So many differing opinions!!! I think when your child can walk and talk, s/he needs to have a glass.....I am not a prude by any means, but mothers nursing toddlers in public just puts me off.
It depends on the child's development. Generally, I would say that she should stop breast feeding whenever she would stop giving the kid formula, but at least a year, ideally 2-3 years (maybe stop when they are being potty trained). I will say that, by breastfeeding, I simply mean giving the child breast milk; after about 1 or, really, when they start getting teeth, it could be better to use a bottle and breast pump. It's a personal decision, but it's good to go with what is healthiest for the kid.
It's a private decision, but so many women seem to have a problem when people stare, so be a little discrete and when the kid is old enough to ask for it, they are old enough to understand "wait till we get home".
In most cases this would be an appropriate cut off age. However, if the child is still attached, than weaning should not be forced, else you risk implanting a food fetish, or disorder.
(about 4-6 months of age .. )
