I worry for Israel.... not America. Israel will step up and fight Iran before it gets a nuclear weapon. This will cause the Arab nations to retaliate against Israel. Hezbollah and Hamas will target Israel's civilian population with rockets, suicide attacks and possibly worse.

I am more convinced than ever before that the world is rushing headlong into Armageddon. Amazingly, there are so many people who don't see it or are too scared to believe it I guess. Israel is the focal point and the world will turn on her - except genuine Christians.

I am scared Isreal will be forced into a corner then becuase of Iran's history of threats and terrorism Isreal will strike out at Iran> At which time, Iran will strike back against Isreal through Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon perhaps even Egypt, too. At which point in time, the USA will have to make a choice either support Isreal against ALL those countries with Direct force using the USArmy or simply sit on the sidelines until either Isreal OR Iran gives up. Trust me on this one point Isreal won't give up without a protracted fight of many months--this war I just out lined wil not be like either the 1967 or 1973 wars--meaning over in a few days....nope it will last at least a few YEARS and Isreal is simply too out numbered on the ground in terms of manpower to fight on a large scale in Persian Gulf ( that is of course where Iran is located not in Lebanon ) so that mean the IDF will have to fight a long way from home with a limited number of troops and airpower ALONE will have only a limited direct impact on Iranian forces so in a way Iran has a safe haven of sorts. Then Isreal will formly ask USA for help even though China has stated it will not allow the USA or any country to have TOTAL control over theworld's oil supplies especially in the Persian Gulf. Nope so while the USA is not directly involed at the start of this big war--we , USA will be in the very middle of it on the ground and up to our neck in blood and guts after the opening shots by Isreal OR Iran.

More worried about Israel declaring war on Iran. Though no better way to get past world opinion and eliminate the Iran regime without drawing in the United States or retaliation of China or Russia, who all will be making money selling weapons to both countries as being allies to the warring countries, but without having to enter the war themselves and still eliminating the Iran nuke threat. The price, higher gas prices here, as oil spectulators bet Israel goes to war with Iran and driving up oil prices, as oil shipping will be a effected by the war. Right or wrong just my view.

If they do go genuninely nuclear, Saudi Arabia has said it will go nuclear as well. Also England and its allies cant take down Iran. We've made a right hash in Iraq and Afganistan. Iran is a much tougher prospect.

I don't see the connection. The Bay of Pigs was a CIA sponsored invasion of Cuba. The CIA convinced JFK that the people of Cuba would rise up once they heard about the invasion but in fact the people of Cuba at the time supported Castro. Iran is nothing like this and there are no plans that we know about to use Iranian nationals to invade Iran.

Currently, I don't know what the best answer is. It is obvious that Iran will not give in and stop what they are doing. If Israel or the US blow up the nuclear facilities that won't stop them. They will launch more terrorist acts against Israel and the US and could cause oil prices to skyrocket. Sanctions may not work only because they were not started soon enough. A lot of time was wasted when bush was in the White House. Obama had to create an environment that would get other countries on board with the boycotts but boycotts need time which is what we are in short supply of.

Right now Iran is like a cornered animal. You can't predict how they will react. When you mix this with religious ideology you have a volatile mix that could explode. Religion and Politics is an unholey combination. Even a mistake on either side could cause the entire region to flair up.

Might I remind you that GW Bush is no longer in the White House. It was Bush shooting off his mouth about "Axis of Evil" which made N. Korea and Iran push even harder to acquire nuclear energy for a bomb. It was also Bush and Cheney who invaded Iraq based on lies to surround Iran which gave them another incentive to seek nuclear capabilities. The Cheney/Bush administration was a disaster in foreign policies and the economy.

If you really want to blame someone blame cheney/bush for their ignorant, arrogant and reckless policies that created the economic and foreign policy mess that we and Obama got. Iran ramped up its nuclear program because of the cheney/bush policies and starting the Iraq war based on lies.

How can you claim Obama made us weak? Obama has killed more al Queda leaders than cheney/bush did. In fact cheney/bush stopped hunting al Queda so they could invade Iraq. They lied and terrorized this country to do it and them made a mess of things once they ruined the country. It was their ignorance and arrogance that lead us to this problem. It is just nonsense to say that Obama made us weak.

  • Mike Rusty S... February 15, 2012 19:40:00

    +3
Yes, 4 years ago cheney/bush were in charge and our economy was about to crash and cheney/bush squanders the surplus the government had because of Clinton. They bankrupted this country for 2 wars that they did not want to pay for. The Iraq war was a war of choice based on lies and actually made things worse. cheney/bush alienated this country from the world and nothing was being done to capture Bin Laden. Even in bush's own words, he did not care where he was. dick cheney's dungeon of horrors became a recruiting tool for al qaeda while is did very little, if anything, to help defend this country.

In the past 4 years this economy is not on the up swing in spite of the republicans. More al qaeda leaders have been killed by Obama including bin laden.

The only thing the republicans can offer is to go back to the same failed policies that go us in the mess were now climbing out of. The GOP is a political and moral bankrupt party that should go extinct.

no one should like war but i believe iran is the biggest terrorist supporter in the world and we cannot let them have nukes. they will end up using them on israel and anyone who does not go along with their jahad. i laugh when people say they can't hurt us. that does not even deserve an answer. it is funny obama goes after tiny libya but stays away from anyone who packs a punch or even worse he likes.

I don't think if Iran had a nuke they would use it on Israel. Blowing up the holey land is not going to get them anything. I think the real reason for them having it or making us think they have it is to deter us from invading them like cheney/bush did to Iraq. However, it is important to note that Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism and using nuclear fuel to create a dirty bomb to use on India, US and Europe is a more real threat and much harder to defend against.

I don't really want us in another war but Iran isn't letting up on this and Israel certainly won't. I don't think Israel can...because Iran is definitely a threat to them.
