While "The Artist" took top honor at the 84th Academy Awards with "Best Picture," there were a ton of other awards distributed that night. Meryl Streep won Best Actress in a Leading Role for "Iron Lady," Christopher Plummer won Best Actor in a Supporting Role for "Beginners" and Octavia Spencer won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for "The Help." And that's just the beginning. Were you surprised at any of the Oscar wins? Or were they all pretty predictable?

I was disappointed about Hugo losing to The Artist. I was blown away by the beauty of Hugo, its story and the unique way Martin Scorcese used 3D technology

I was so annoyed that HP didn't win best make-up design, I thought it had in the bag. Apparently Hugo had the better one but I TOTALLY beg to differ!

Unfortunately, I had to baby sit for my grandkids that night and I watched kiddie videos instead of watching the award show. Sometimes it is fun to watch and other years it is really over done. This year my darling new grand baby and her 2 year old brother were way more important than a few skinny stars with fake body parts and borrowed diamonds. LOL

I totally thought that Viola Davis was going to win best actress... But i new The Artists was going to win most of it.

I thought that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 would have won at least one of the awards it was nominated for. In all honesty, it's disappointing that movies like that are usually overlooked. Basically the Oscars are all about honoring 3-5 films that wind up winning every award. I was really disappointed that a film like Harry Potter didn't win in the makeup category when it's filled with these non existent creatures that they had to bring to life. The Academy continues to disappoint.

I can't believe Maryl won Best Actress. It's funny that she said she could practically hear the people groaning, because I was one of those. And Hugo won too many, IMO. Best FX? Um...no.

Years ago I tried watching the Oscars......it was like watching paint dry. Who cares about all the Hollyweirds getting together and patting each other on the back?? Back in the day, there might have actually been some Oscar-worthy performances and movies.....not today!
