I don't live that far from the Mexican border (few hundred miles), and I been there many times. But there is NO way I would go down there nowadays. Between the murders, rapes, and the robberies of some American citizens. No, I have enough of that right here to last a lifetime.
These kinds of fears are self-fullfilling. If large numbers of people are afraid to go somewhere, then that place becomes dangerous because no one who heads warnings goes there. This is an example of why Buddhists teach that we make our own realities.
Their government is run by the cartel and they hate US vets. Just look at the US Marine who has been in their prison for trying to bring a antique shotgun over legally.
the last time I went to mexico was with my sister-in-law whose sister was staying in Juarez to care for their parents, anyways, she went around like nothing at all was going on but then she said something that made alot of sense to me and that was that the guys knew who all was involved in the drug war and that they knew what they were doing--don't get me wrong I was still afraid and haven't gone back since--and I live right across the border ok?
I would sure like to able to take over Mexico and send the Mexicans here so they can have the awful President Obama along with the jerks that voted for him.
I usually go to Costa Maya and Cozumel. I have so many friends there and many of the street vendors in both places remember me from the last time I visited which was between 1 and 2 years ago. Of course the owners of my dad's favorite two bars in the places remember us, too. lol
It is no different than here there are certain places I would never go to in the United States based upon low life, gangs etc.
No different in Mexico some cities to stay away from but doesn't mean the whole country is bad I have been to Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Mazatlan and they are great cities.
Some places are worse than others. My friend goes to see a friend of hers every year in the copper canyon and has never had a bad time.
I have been in Tijuana and would never set foot off of the beaten path tho.
