I made a special place in my barn so owls could nest there. It keeps rodents down in the barn and in my garden. Also rabbits and other creature that eat my peas and tomatoes.
I have had the pleasure of spending time with a few different species of owls. They CAN be somewhat aggressive , but i have never had any problems with them!

There's a 15 inch tall owl in my section of the swamp, the only reason I know this is that he/she landed on the light pole in the back 40, and with a pair of binoculars I could determine a close approximation of his/her height to the surrounding objects. The light was flickering so I named him/her Flicker. Any way I was jogging one morning and Flicker must have thought I was something to eat and he swooped down and just barely grazed my scalp with his talons. Scared the bile Hell out of me, I went from jog to hauling a$$ in a nano second until I saw Flicker flying low just above my head. I have NEVER mentioned this to anyone until now.
LOL! I was at a town square in the middle of the day and saw this beautiful statue of an owl right outside of a shop. I wanted to get a closer look. As I stepped towards it, it turned it's head and opened it's eyes, lol! It scared me too.
Ah, I see! Must admit, I once went round a theme park near Plymouth which had an owl sanctuary, and it was just before closing, and quite foggy. I was the only one there, and every owl was staring at me! Maybe 30 owls, all just creepily staring at me! Weird! I enjoyed it though.
Yeah give them about 2 mins. in the dark & they'd swoop down & steal my cat. lol They are perfectly fine as long as they stay up in a tree or anywhere above, just don't swoop down. Oh & sure they are cute as can be in a picture. Sorry sister, don't feel bad :-D
Actually I've only seen a couple, and they were in trees. I do have a plastic one hanging outside my bedroom window. We had a bird that kept flying into the window, drove us nuts, and the owl hanging there has solved the problem!
I think they`re quite beautiful birds. They have a strange digestive system, they regurgitate Pellets of the waste of whatever they`ve they`ve eaten, fur, bones feathers etc.
Awww I sorry!
