My husbands a contractor yet I do all the fixing around the house. While he went to visit his parents in Europe over Christmas, I repainted all the house, changed all the mouldings, install a dishwater in the kitchen, fixed the deck, and kept the car going. He comes home and complains that I did all the work because anyway he has to rebuild the house why did I spend all this time and money?

hahaha............he just don't like you showing him up. My husband use to not let me use his stuff, now he's happy for me to use the riding lawn mower and leaf blower etc. He has not let me use his chain saw, he's worried I will get hurt.

I take care of all our house hold needs, If you own your home , you owe it yourself to learn how to do almost anything so that you do not have to pay someone else to show you how they do it. Home depot is pretty good for giving advice on household projects.

You're absolutely correct learning how to do it yourself saves you a lot of money in the long run.

If I have the tools. My dad teaches me to fix things and so did my ex husband (before he became a woman). You can learn to fix anything on YouTube.

So true, and you can learn the art of item creation after you get good at repairing regular items from sites like insrtuctables.com. Super cool web glossary.

Good for you! While, I am pretty good at it, I have the name of my handy man on my refrigerator for when my tinkering doesn't work. People like you, save those of us like me, ( people who THINK we can fix things). Keep up the good work!! My father could fix anything and was a carpenter in his youth. ( He passed away a few years ago.) My husband was pretty good at fixing most things and he too passed away from cancer a little over a year ago. Neither of my grown sons have the knack, so i am pretty darn self sufficient.....BUT, Joe the handyman is only a phone call away.....Bless his heart!!!

Nope, not really. I guess it depends on what it is, though. If it's something really easy, perhaps I can. But, really, most things, no, I'm not much of a handy-woman.

I'm the McGuiver in my neighborhood. I fix just about anything. From cars to trucks and water softeners to boats and broken hearts. Theres nothin I won't try to make work. And if I can't make it work you might as well through it away.

Mostly no. I have changed a washer or two and fixed plumbing under the sink once. The second time I tried was a disaster. To be truthful, I stink at it.

I've always built and fixed things even as a kid. I was doing brake jobs on cars at 13. I wish I would have been good looking instead.
