My husbands a contractor yet I do all the fixing around the house. While he went to visit his parents in Europe over Christmas, I repainted all the house, changed all the mouldings, install a dishwater in the kitchen, fixed the deck, and kept the car going. He comes home and complains that I did all the work because anyway he has to rebuild the house why did I spend all this time and money?

I actually hold my own and do quite well at fixing things around my home ..
It is something that I just have a natural talent for .. and I learned how to do.

My inabilities shocked even me as I discovered my ignorance(s) in my 20's. Alas, all the way up through today I just got better and better at being awful. I can't install a screw without stripping the threads. I don't even bother trying anymore. Just throw up my hands and call on the appropriate repair persons. Sad but true.

I have learned to be because there is nobody else going to fix it for me and I can't afford to pay someone everytime something needs to be fixed.

My sister used it to fix the sole of her shoe . The duct tape with the sole attached, fell apart at a funeral. Not much you can do when you're walking past the coffin............but shuffle along as discreetly as possible!

I learned at an early age that you couldn't depend on others to fix things for you, so you had to learn how to do it yourself. There's very little in the field of home repair I can't do That's why I started "Have Hammer wil Travel" a home repair company.

Really depends on what it is, but for the most part no. I have been forced to help my husband with things like lawnmower repairs, and while successfully making these repairs gives a sense of satisfaction, they aren't really within my aptitude. Smaller, delicate things like jewelry repairs are more my speed.

I had to buy my own tools too, he keeps all his tools in the truck and were not allowed to touch them. So every time I go to home depot I buy a tool and than I hide it from him because he takes it, telling me that I do not know how to take care of them.
