you need an "Other" choice. English is my dominant language followed by Korean Sign Language, German and a bit of Romanian. My French is negligible.

Just combine the Hebrew and Spanish together, to know Ladino.

Ladino is Medieval Castilian Spanish written in the Hebrew alphabet. It has admixtures of Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, Turkish, Greek, Bulgarian, and Serbo-Croatian in it. It is for the Sephardic Jews, what Yiddish is for the Ashkenazic Jews.

Of course I am bilingual, I will do it with anybody. I have lived overseas a lot, and into preserving endangered languages. When you lose a language, you lose a culture. The way you understand a culture is through its language. I think the most difficult language I had to learn was Hungarian. beszel magyarul? That "sz" is pronounced as "su" as in French, and that "gy" is pronounced as in "d." I do not know how the Gabors and Bela Lugosi did it, for them to do English language dialogue. Ready to learn Pitjantjatjara? I heard "Advance Australia Fair" sung in that language.

I am not into hypersexuality. That was the Zodiac Killer who was into that. That is the reason why he killed, because he got a sexual high off of it.

You can also learn Cornish, Manx, Welsh, and Gaelic. They spoke those languages, long before English arrived.

I am so grateful that Farsi and Urdu have the letter "peh," beacause I have a "p" in my last name. I was in Egypt during the Iran-Iraq war, and they told me not to use the Farsi "peh," but to use the Arabic "bah."

Yet again, no "other" option. Fail! (I'm not joking, I'm really irritated) And no "just English" option? WTF? This post is IN English! Few people who answer this will genuinely know "just Spanish."

I don't truly consider myself bilingual because I'm not fluent in French, but I did take 4 years of it in high school, so I think if I brushed up on it a little, I could get around just fine in a French-speaking country.

There supposed to be the "Other" choice.

My native language is Russian. I also can understand Ukrainian and could read (not now) Armenian. Well, just learned their 39-letter alphabet, while reading the street signs. Every city in the USSR had the same street names - starting from Lenin streets ...

Ukrainian has an extra letter in the Cyrillic alphabet, then Russian does.

There are more than one letter different (there are two Russian letters Ukrainian alphabet lacks). Reading is an easy part.

If you know Slovak, then you can communicate with the Poles. Because both the Poles and Slovaks can understand each other.

Barely French. I could not hold a conversation, but I could catch the gist of them mostly. It probably wouldnt take too much effort for me to become fluent, and Im thinking about it; it is one of our two official languages, and I do feel a bit guilty never having learned French properly.

When you say rhinoceros in Zulu it is banda. Banda in Swahili, means hut. Praat jy Afrikaans?
  • Magnilo... Tim Upham 2012/06/02 20:32:50
    Magniloquence
    Banda in Zulu means 'cold'
    Banda is 'to be cold'
Makhaza is cold as something out of the fridge
and khuhlane is cold as 'I have a cold'
En ja, ek kan Afrikaans praat, maar ek is meer gewoond om Engels te praat. My tuislikke taal was Engels.
