You are correct of course, not sure why that is. In some instances, the Legion has brought that on themselves, i.e. my local Legion closed their facility and moved their administrative office to the basement of the VFW leaving no where for members to go, yet I still receive due's notices every year. Thinking strongly of transferring to another post.
probably because my generation is busy making babies. i dont have kids yet but will in a few years and im sure its going to take lots of time and patients.
Yes, I will retain my membership but may transfer to a more active post. Closest active post is about 15 miles away. As I indicated in an earlier post, my local closed their facility and moved their office into the basement of the local VFW, thus creating an atmosphere of just paying dues with nothing in return for members. I keep asking myself; "do I want to continue paying dues just to say I belong to the Legion".
Yes, you are correct on leadership. Another fault I find with some post's is their so called "Social Members". My home town Post where I grew up (use to stop by there if I was in the area), there were more "Social Members" in there than than those who served in uniform. To me that's just flat wrong and especially when some of those had attitudes about "out of towners" coming into "their clubs" when in fact, they never served a day in uniform. If it were up to me, I'd bounce every one of their asses out.
I am a VFW member.
Here is a link though for anybody who is interested

Teasing you of course.
Good luck with family and God Bless.
