If they want to unite, I guess that is fine. Just dont call it marriage, that is reserved for the joining of a man and a woman. Call it like a quagmire or something.
I have to agree on that note. It makes no difference to me what people do in their bedrooms. I'd just rather not be "forced" to condone it. as far as civil unions go, people have a perfect right to designate who is covered by their insuranc, who is in their will, and one absolute poitive is the fact joint filing is cheaper than filing singly on taxes. The less the government gets to throw away, the better I like it.
Why does some ignorant activist think he can curse something so severe Catholics, Baptists, Methodists and any other Religious personel/group believe in when we don't say or do anything even remotely close to that. I believed that same sex marriage would not hurt anyone but when something like this happens and of course I'm sure people who agree with me are to frightened to say anything because of "Someone's Feelings", now I am totally against Same Sex Marriage and I support the 1st Ammendment.
I am gay, and I do NOT support gay marriage- People need to learn to differentiate between the legal and religious aspects- just as they do with heterosexual marriages- even a straight marriage has the two aspects- the civil union- which is the legal aspect- and that portion should be open for all, however the religious aspect, should depend entirely on each individual faith/pastor and their willingness to accept and conduct a ceremony. If going by the Bible, no Christian religion should allow a religious ceremony between two people of the same sex, as it is condemned repeatedly in the Bible.
As to the legal aspect, each state determines the items covered on the legal front, and it is up to each legislature to determine what is covered in the legal aspects.
The irony about this though, is that while many gays want the right to be married legally, they seldom think about what happens at the other end- a divorce, it never occurs to many they could be stuck with their ex's bills, or paying alimony for years. Sometimes you might be careful what you wish for, especially considering how short term many rlationships between gay men really are, the lawyers could make a killing
I am a Catholic but am not a inconsiderate person if someone wants to go their own way and have a same sex relationship, by all means please do so. All "Americans" have their right to an opinion, their right to vote and their right to a fair trail. I fully Agree with your statement, the bible is something so serious and when even a gay man says don't diminish the words of the most valuable book in the United States says something this activist should rethink, I truly believe it was a great thing to let gay men and women join/come out in the military becuase they are proud to be American but same sex marriage should not be allowed becuase its just (I don't want to say wrong) but just a NO. I'm sure there are a number of men and women who are happy to be just together but who really wants to go through this LONG battle against the church and know will eventually could result in a failure and then people may even look at Gays In a different way, which I could not support, becuase like I said before they are people but more importantly they are AMERICANS.
It's actually not the same. If your in an accident in a state that doesn't have civil unions you have no rights... you can't see your loved one in the hospital if in ICU.... don't get consulted about pulling the plug etc.... also... you can't file as married on your taxes... the form asks if your married... not if your civil unioned...
POA doesn't always work and neither do wills. I have known people who lost the home they lived in and paid on for years because their lover died and the 'family' that hadn't been in the picture for years because they didn't agree with the 'gay' decide to come after the assets of their dead relative... and win!! But your right... it needs to change.
So I would have to uproot myself and move to a state that approves of recognizing that I am a human being with rights like everyone else? How is that the same thing?
Gay relationships have been happening in every society for thousands of years. This "fad" isn't going anywhere.
This "new push" is just people sick of being treated like second class citizens. A vast majority of the gay people I know are over the age of 40, so how old are you that they are considered old.
Being gay is not the equivalent to being into bestiality, as you so eloquently compared it to.
"You can't reproduce that way, so the new recruits have to come from the hetero side"...are you for real? Being gay is not something that you can be persuaded into being. You are born with the desires. While most people happen to be born liking the opposite, some are born to like the same sex as them.
And, this is the only time I will say this...I am not gay. I am a happily married straight woman who wants other people to have the same kind of happiness. And the whole point for the fight for gay marriage equality is that they DON'T have the same rights as straight married couples and that is not fair in this land of freedom.
Maybe I should have voted yes, because we all know that if gays can marry then that certainly affects our (hetero) marriages. I could lose all kinds of sleep if I knew gays could marry. Then I wouldn't be able to perform my wifely duties. I would be so distraught knowing those lesbos next door are enjoying their sick happiness while I stress out about what they are doing at night. That's when I forget about the hubbies needs. Why do the gays have to affect my life so?
I have no problem with the civil union idea. But the traditional idea of marriage and family is an ideal that ought not be messed with in the name of political correctness.
I am. I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I don't hate, am not afraid of homosexuals.
I believe God is very specific about it and will go with Him on that stand.

How does it impact your little life any?
