In this day and age, I'd be thrilled to make it to old age.

Not the question of getting old, the question is of getting tired.

Only because of obamacare. If not overturned it will be a horrible way of determining who lives, who dies, and having some Washington bureaucrat controlling my end of life is not appealing at all.

That is so true. The ACA favors those 15-40..then care goes down..and after 50..it really goes down..all you may get is that "little blue pill"...no matter what your problem is.

Yep, yet some on SH are still dumb enough to contend that, "death panels do not exist". They are in for a huge shock.

LOL I damn well better not be, besides, how old is old?? when I was 15 it was 30, at 20 it was 40, at 30 it was 50, at 40 it was 60, now I am 58, and may not do what I could, I still do most, and I am smarter....

Yes I am. But at age 60, I guess it is to late to get myself all that upset about it.

Age is as much mental as physical. I know people in their 20's and 30's that already think OLD. They don't like their work--they don't enjoy ANY activity unless it is classified in the cultural lexicon as "fun" or "leisure". That is not healthy--we need to find fulfillment in our vocations and professions, and not be counting the days and minutes to "retirement". Some do well in that classification; for others it is an early demise, as they are no longer challenged and feel useless. I am 67, so I am qualified to comment. I have no intention to "retire"--does not fit me.

In fact, In this day and age, I think I would be more afraid of being young. I don't think I would like to have to face the future that seems inevitable right now.

Getting "old", no. Going senile? For sure. I don't want to lose that which makes me ... well, me.

I am getting old and it really sucks. The only thing worse is catching on fire -and living, and being paralyzed. I hope I die before age 60.

Too late for me to be afraid. I remember an argument between my step-father and my brother-in-law. The brother-in-law ended up calling my step-father an old man, and to me 50 yo looked old at the time. My step-father knocked the brother-in-law out with a well placed roundhouse, then drug him out to his car and threw him inside. That was 50 years ago and I've outlived them both.

Immortality and a youthful appearance / condition are more appealing.
