Are you a boss??...

But it is increasingly risky to be the boss in this boss-hating political and media atmosphere. I just heard the story of how Greg Reyes, the CEO of the once fast growing Brocade Communications was sent to prison and fined for being one of many thousands of business executives who did not supposedly follow an ambiguous accounting advisement that was quickly withdrawn because it was confusing and so at odds with reasonable business practice. Reyes was found not guilty twice and then tried by the same Kangaroo Court prosecutor and judge a second time on a closely related charge to the first one and found guilty. He was sent to prison and fined $15M. This was all a travesty of justice and it clearly is getting too dangerous to be a company owner or a CEO of a publicly-owned company. Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank are among many laws that are just clearly anti-business. Many a businessman is Shrugging completely and many others are just in a state of stasis waiting to see if things will improve. This is why our economy is in such miserable shape and Obama just keeps fueling the fires to burn more and more businessmen at the stake.

I have been a workcenter supervisor, Petty officer of the watch and section leader. Loading crew chief arm/dearm director, Junior officer of the Day, and a Father, but now, I'm just some guy.

i do what i have to, whether i have to lead or follow to accomplish my task. im told i have good leadership skills, but i prefer not to have to use them

i view human society like a farm. we have sheep, shepherds, goats, and wolves. im a goat, i follow the flock but i have the choice to do my own thing if i choose and i'll knock u on ur ass if u try to stop me. i don't make waves so long as im left alone, not out to cause trouble or hurt anybody, just trying to live

If I where a boss. I would fire about 6 people at my job. Our architectural firm is wasting a lot of money on some of the dead weight working there. And we have Internet on ONE......ONE.......dang machine in office. We are waaaaaaayyyy behind on that.....lol

I was since I was 17 (I always moved up the ranks quickly wherever I worked) but after my last couple jobs where I was always putting my own ethics into question I stopped. I would rather be a pion and be happy than to be a boss and ruin what self respect I have left.

Been there, did it, done it, don't miss it. I have been a supervisor a division director, and operations director and you know all those jobs sucked. Being a worker bee, doing your job and going home without all the headaches worked for me. Now my only boss is my wife and she is a good leader.........

Not any more, since I'm retired, but as a member of the US Army and as a civilian in the manufacturing world, I was somebody's boss for nearly 40 years.

Yes, I am a boss at work. But when I go home, my wife is the boss! :)

LEADER AT ONE JOB...BUT AT MY OTHER, THEY TREAT ME LIKE A BAWSS CAUSE THEY MOSTLY YOUNGER THAN ME... ;)

Not anymore, I was, then I retired. Now I take orders from the cat.

When I owned that business, we did have 2 or 3 employees; so I was certainly Boss in those daysLol!! ;)
