When two gamers fall in love with each other and plan to spend the rest of their lives together, we should probably expect that their wedding will be video-game-themed in some capacity. Forget the princess stuff -- we're talking companion cubes here!

From wedding invitations like the one below to beautiful multi-tiered cakes donning game references, do you think it's rad or ridiculous to have a video-game-themed wedding?

KOTAKU.COM reports:
It's summer, so chances are that you've either been planning a wedding of your own or attending the nuptials of some dear friends. We're sure that the requests for attendance that you've gotten in the mail have been pretty swank, but the invitations we've gathered here offer up awesome video game homages sometimes in playable form.

There are plenty of couples out there that will have your traditional weddings, but see nothing wrong with having a game themed wedding, especially if both the bride and the groom love the game. People should be allowed to have their special day to be both fun and the best day of their lives.

I think that is completely fine. I want a dead themed wedding... so can you really blame the gamer lovers?

If both people love gaming and have a favorite they'd like to have as their wedding theme I don't see any reason why they wouldn't do it

It's a shame I voted for "ridiculous." I didn't read the description carefully enough, but I was too quick to answer. There's nothing wrong with a video-game-themed wedding. I would definitely love to attend! It seems like something cool!

I find them to be tacky and ultimately tawdry. There's no point in having a wedding ceremony in WoW other than to demonstrate that you've successfully gone too far into your addiction.

Ridiculous in an odd way. Everyone agree with me that has experienced this. I've seen a WoW/Guide Wars wedding and a Halo wedding. This is how it went down.

"Oh my god, I can't believe what a low level he is."

    Or

"Wow, his KD is that low, who invited him."

    Its odd...

I knew of this lady I met on a MMO and we eventually became friends on Facebook and when I checked out her pictures and related stuff it turned out that she fell in love and got wedded because of that same game.

Not everyone gets loved and I don't see a problem if you can find love in a game. (granted you'll actually meet the person)
Let people enjoy their lives the way they want to - everyone's different.

As long as it's what the bride and groom really want, and it wasn't made as some kind of short-sighted snap decision, why not? It doesn't necessarily have to be ridiculous at all. Some of the guests might be weirded out, but it all depends on the execution. You can have a cute and subtle video game themed wedding, or you can have a totally bizarre wedding where the bride and groom respectively show up as zombies, or Locust Queen and Marcus Phoenix, complete with a chainsaw gun. ;)

There is no law that says a wedding has to be a traditional, cookie cutter event. Its supposed to be a memorable celebration. If both the bride and groom are into it, do what you love!

I think it's wonderful people do whatever they want in their wedding. Some people enjoy nature, and do the wedding in the middle of a forest. Some enjoy sea, and do it in a Cruiser Ship. Some enjoy Traditional weddings and make it all nice in the Church. Some Enjoy more casual weddings with families and less formalities, and make a nice celebration on a place they like.

So If a couple and (most probably their friends) like gaming, who cares if they include video-game related themes into it, from little details such as the cake, or the whole ceremony, if both parties are okay with it. I find it amazing haha.
