I didn't think it was possible to be this stupid... but apparently, a grocery store in Germany went there. The store peeled some bananas and then wrapped them up in plastic wrapping. WHY?!?! The banana peel is nature's way of providing your fruit with protection. Le sigh.

I'm not that lazy and I wouldn't buy these; however, they did that so that they could sell the bananas that had already begun to turn brown on the outside. That's why some of them have the ends cut off too; they had probably turned brown there as well. It's a way to maximize profits and minimize waste. I suppose people would buy them to use in Smoothies or recipes.

In this world of trying to cut down on waste waste, they remove the natural (biodegradable) packaging and wrap them up in artificial packaging.

Why the other day... I had to use a hacksaw to peel my banana. Then I found I could use that slippery peel to lube my car, and when the slickness faded, I had shoe leather!

So you replaced the natural packaging that is fully decomposable, can be used as fertiliser for other plants and comes with no additional costs whatsoever, with artificial packaging that expensively manuactured from oil, increasing the costs of the fruit, and will not decompose for centuries lying in a landfill?
How retarded can someone be to even think that this is a good idea?

I swear people are becoming lazier by the day! Take those ready to microwave whole potatos all they did was wrap some plastic wrap around them and are selling them for almost 2 bucks a pop.I have an idea,I'm going to market pre-eaten food you'll be buying nothing but the container.Think of the convenience! No dishes to wash ,no exhausting digesting to do,it's perfect!

i don't think it's either brilliant or stupid.
i do find it interesting that a european
country would do it,though.they knock
us for cutting our food and switching
hands to eat it.they also laugh at how
some of us have to cut up a whole
steak into little pieces before we eat it.

Not all Europeans...I'm from Finland and I cut my food, don't switch hands to eat it, but surely don't make fun of people for doing so. I also cut my steaks up in to little pieces before I eat it, as do a lot of my Finnish friends and family. Not sure where in Europe you've been, but you should come to Finland! :)

We're in deeper trouble than I thought if we've gotten too lazy to peel a banana. You'll lose the valuable nutrients which disintegrate as soon as the banana is peeled, too. Please stay in the German market only. Americans have enough problems getting healthy, nutritious foods, why make it easier to eat a non-healthy fruit?
Yup, stupid, very stupid. Have we really gotten that lazy?
Me, I will always peel my own banana because I need those vitamins and minerals.

Trust me when i write that i do know mai way around a banana and that i can be trusted to peel them all by mai self. i could even peel them for others and they might pay to watch how i do it ~(^_^)~

This seems not only unnecessary but possibly also unsanitary.

ok these nanners apprear to need to be in the reduced section...... I can't imagine the cost of supplies (the trays, wrap, and stickers) and man hours would be worth the trouble of already marked down produce.
