Keep in mind they probobly thought the same way about their grandparents and future generations will think the same of us.

Mite as well ask if young people are too open minded. When you get older you almost always remember what works or not.

When you are young you seldom know what really works or not.

Most of the narrow-minded are young people.

"It ain't necessarily so", but quite a few of us are narrow-minded indeed.

As they say, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. My grandparents are the most stubborn people, what they know - they know more than you.

What works or doesn't has been seen by the elderly and by experience or knowledge they know what works.

If you mean that we have a lifetime of seeing what has worked and what has not and then "open minded" people do the same crap that always gets us into the same messes we've gotten into before and straightened them out. They, the open minds think that maybe the crap will work this time because they all care more and can sing all the words of Kum By Yah. Hell it has to work this time........NOT

Many things change in our world - technology, the ease in which information travels, methods of travel, the diseases that are life threatening, styles, music.....one thing that doesn't seem to change however is human nature.

There hasn't been a generation of new folk coming up that hasn't asked this very same question. Young people coming up in the world with all the possibilities of life in front of them. A clean slate for the most part, trusting hearts, wanting to change the world and honestly believing they are unique and new. It's an honest, inspiring, hopeful thing to watch. Yet each generation as they go out and try out thier own wings tends to learn that their trusting hearts get broken a few times, and they get cheated a time or two. The smart ones learn to be more discerning and shrewd. The rebellious fads of their day may be different, but the human purpose is the same as it was for their parents generation and their grandparents before them.

And one day, when these youngsters are looking at their own grandchildren, they'll be faced with the same summary judgement from the younger crowd.

We just try not to become cynical old turds pointing crooked arthritic fingers out the front door....

you kids get off my lawn

    Ah ..
    seems to me ..
    that there's a bit of pre-judging going on ..
What many who are of tender years don't realize ..
is that we .. who have DARED to become OLD-er ..
have many, many experiences that the tender years haven't a clue about
(nor do they ask or even consider that we've been there, done that .. came away with the photos even .. )
AGE doesn't equate to narrowness .. or dementia ..
for our Experiences in life .. have formed the very thoughts and decisions that we make each and every day ..
we've live LIFE .. we've made mistakes (and seen the mistakes of others too) ..
    and LEARNING ..
    which comes in time ..
is what has taught us valuable lessons indeed ..
(lessons we can impart to the ones of tender years .. IF ONLY they wish to open their ears to hear .. )

No, it's just that us old people have lived thru it and don't see the point in re~living it. You are young and have to grow, learn and make your own mistakes and make your own life.

Usually, yes... They still have their old morals, values and beliefs, and some of them have not yet caught up with society.

I wish there was a lot more morals and values...society scares me anymore, anything goes. A lot of people no longer have any sense of decency or morality. Nothing wrong with if you borrow it and break it, you replace it. Society is changing, not us old people.

at times, but only REALLY old people. I don't fault them, it's just the world they grew up in... you know - the same one we're in now!

The older a person gets, the harder it is to convince them they're wrong. 'Narrow mindedness' doesn't really apply.

That's not quite what I said. I said it became harder to convince them they're wrong. It's called "getting set" in one's ways. :-)

I don't mean to be rude, but a lot of times they are, but I can understand why. They were raised in a different time than younger people were, they have different values.

Some can be but I wouldn't say they all are. You do meet some old people who are stuck in a rut about something.
