One should never generalize.
Some are, some aren't. Intolerance isn't something that belongs specifically to one party. All parties have intolerant people.

Some are, most aren't. Yeah, those who are are terribly hypocritical, but they do not make up the majority nor should they be considered the face of liberalism. They're just the loudest and most annoying that you remember as liberals.

And consider this: a number of people who are "tolerant liberals" are in some sort of group which many groups don't tolerate. An atheist who has been told they have no morals and should not be considered a valid person because they have no God (yes, some people do say that kind of crap) is not going to want to tolerate another person trying to force religion on them, despite considering themselves "tolerant". And if a group is trying to oppress another, is it really wrong for people not to want to hear someone's discriminatory slurs against a group whether you're part of it or not? Furthermore, not tolerating intolerance is a bit of a different thing as well. Peace is a two-way street trying not to allow a tolerance VS intolerance all-out-war with someone could be very frustrating because intolerance, by definition, is on the attack. Everyone's gotta snap sometime. That doesn't mean a "tolerant liberal" telling you to shut up isn't usually tolerant when having a rational, reasonable discussing about the same topic.

No; not all. Just like not all conservatives are terribly intolerant. How (in)tolerant a person is has more to do with how they were raised then their chosen political affiliation.
