Anyone have any ideas for baby names we can throw in our list to choose from...?

Girl: raven, june, genevieve, hadleigh, heather, jamie, or october
Boy: james, nickolas, zachary, rebel, or hunter

I've always liked the names Emily, Allison, Elizabeth and Christina for girls because they are classic and easily adaptable.
For boys I like the name James, Michael, Lawrence and Robert.
There are some trendy names that are okay, but they do tend to cluster. You might want to read up on this in Freakonomics.

I'll just give general advice then. Think carefully about the name first, middle, last and ALL possible nicknames for all of them in every combination. I had a brother in law whose parents named him Justin Case (purposely), I know a Thomas Morrow (tomorrow) who was named that accidentally and I hate to say it, but I have a son who we combined family names in order to name him and didn't think about nicknames. His name is William Madison (Billy Madison)...lol. That was a couple of years after the movie came out but b/c of my STRONG dislike for the name Billy, it never occured to me that we would call him Billy~he is Will and my Grandpa is Bill. There is a car dealer here in town named Richard Head and everyone I know calls him Dick Head. Also, give your child a good strong name and not something like Barbie...that's a name a girl can NEVER live up to. I won't say what my name is, but my parents didn't think it through all the way and I have many decades explaining it to new people. Good luck and God bless!!

The car dealer's grandsons were in Boy Scouts with my sons. My name is bad, but if I had a name like that, I would change it or go by my middle name! LOL.

I went to college with a girl named Rose Busch. Her brother's name was Thorne. No kidding. Then there's the former daughter of a Texas governor named Ima Hogg. I have to say here that although some foreign names are beautiful, some of the made up quasi ethnic names just come off as contrived. Interesting side note, I teach in a school with a very diverse population and of the groups, the Korean kids adopt American names almost immediately. Debbie, David, even rather old fashioned names, are very popular.

LOL....the old "grandma" names are making a comeback. My son named his baby girl Elizabeth Marie. The quasi names get on my last nerve. My hubby had a person apply for a job and when he called to set up a time for her to come in and be interviewed, he asked to speak to "Janetta". Her mom got all upset b/c her name is spelled Ja-netta and pronounced it Juh hypen etta....so the "-" was supposed to be a part of her name. Why do that to a kid??

As a teacher I dread the first day of school for just that reason.

My girls are Raegan and Rhiannon. (Yes we spelled Raegan that way as I wanted to pronounce it r"EYE"gun. But my wife wanted to pronounce it RAY-GUN.) If we would have had a boy, it would have been Roman. (I almost went with Rowan for my first girls name.)

... see, my husband pronounced it ray-gun as well... and roman and rowan are great!! :)

Got that from a waitress named Harmony.
When I complimented her on her name she said her sister was Melody.
Their parents were musicians . . . 'hippies', she said.
