I just watched Lady GaGa's new music video for Alejandro. It. Was. AMAZING. A true work of genius. GaGa has earned herself an even bigger place in my heart for that one.

Now, onto what I thought the video meant. if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend watching it before you continue reading this.

Overall, the video made me think that GaGa is singing/performing from the point-of-view of a man who is in the military. He is falling in love with all these other men (Alejandro, Roberto, Fernando), but he ends all these relationships, as if saying "No, this is wrong, I can't do this anymore". He doesn't want any of them to call his name, he doesn't wanna kiss or touch because he knows that if he had anymore contact with them, he would change his mind.

The reason I think this is because in the video when the second verse is on, you see GaGa dancing in a bra and panties (Flesh-toned. Sexay.) in a room full of beds with men writhing around on them. the men are in very feminine heels and are bound to the headboard, as if they were being dominated by GaGa. Then, at another point during that scene, you see GaGa dry-rubbing on one of the boys doggie-style. That's when I realized that she was portraying a man. The fact that the whole scene seems to take place in some hidden room suggests that all of this is done out of need and extreme desire, and the man GaGa is playing is very deep in the closet.

I also knew she was being a gay man because in multiple interviews she has claimed that when she was younger, she related to men more than women, and that androgyny is a HUGE influence on her work. Also, almost all her friends growing up were gay men.

Sometime after the second chorus, you see GaGa laying down in a bed in what seems to be a red latex nun outfit. I interpreted this to mean that the man is trying to cleanse his sins and "cure" his homosexuality. For the remainder of the video, you repeatedly see GaGa in religious-inspired comstumes, and at the end, she finally rips her top off and gives in to temptation. At the very end, you see GaGa in the bed again, praying. You also see that another man is sitting on the bed with her. Then the camera zooms in on her face, and her image seems to burn, suggesting that the scene in the bed took place after the man gave in to all the other men around him and he imagined himself burning for it.
