As "advanced" as we are in our cognitive thinking, the basic instinct to simply survive is still our number one objective.

We, like every other species that wishes to pass their DNA onto future generations, are very self involved.

Perhaps we have learned that greed and corruption brings wealth and wealth brings power and power brings greed and corruption.

Because humans don't seem to have evolved one bit, the same hardwired reactions are still there.

Jesus also said allot of other things that people ignore, like giving away everything to the poor and how praying in public is something only hypocrites do. So, there is quite a bit people choose to ignore where the bible and other such scriptures are concerned. ;)

Most important thing He said people ignore is to LOVE ONE ANOTHER!

Actually it was to love thy God with all your heart and mind and soul.

Talking of hypocrisy, how can a true republican be a true Christian? ;-)

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”Matt22:37

“What is written in the Law?”Jesus replied. “How do you read it?” “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”Luke 10:25

For whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8

Why would I want to read THAT anti-woman nonsense?
  • Curmudgeon Lady Wh... 2012/07/28 18:07:04

It's far more than anti woman, as the bible, torah, koran all read like recipe books for a very angry, divided, and not peaceful world.

Have you read the New Testament? Jesus came to stop all the nonsense of the Old Testament.... you know every book has a beginning and an end.

The New Testament is different.... but I guess you will never know unless you read it yourself, sad you were told and never did look for yourself.
