A woman works in the highest story of a 100-story aparment. What level does she work?

She works on the top/highest level, whatever it is. There could be 100 numbered floors and storage/maintenance above. Or the building could be in England which doesn't start counting until one level up. Old buildings often don't have #13.

Saying "story" in one phrase and "level" in another is inconsistent and makes it impossible to decipher what the point is.

Why does the woman work in an 100 story apartment, you mean in a complex? She could work on the roof fixing elevators or ventilation systems. Or she can be sanitation staff cleaning common areas but that would make her job at various levels. You are using various terms to describe similar objects, is it a story or a level? If floor you mean story, then what is a "level?"



If this is about floors in a building, many older skyscrapers omitted the 13th floor due to superstition and mere tradition, but modern designs don't, focusing on efficiency and maximum utilization. There really aren't any 100 floor apartment buildings in the world though.

It would be the 101st floor, since there isn't a 13th floor. At about 990 feet (counting ten feet per floor). But it's still the 100th story

if it doesn't have a basement, 100th, if no 13th floor, 99 or 100, or if it really is a 100 story apartment, the first level?

Either, depending on where you live. Apparently in Australia it would be the 99th, but I'd call it the 100th.
