Rice grown in regions where cotton was sprayed with arsenic-laced pesticides 100 years ago is found to contain inordinately high levels of arsenic. Rice grown in other places was not a consideration in the research study you are failing to fully disclose. Rice grown in California and in Asia is not a problem.

And which is worse in rice, arsenic or radioactive particles?
This is just more hysteria.
"OTHER THOUGHTS" ..
(had to pick one .. just to answer .. and this choice is not necessarily true .. )
Seriously ..
one needs to clearly observe and look at the SOURCE of the rice ..
there's specific locales/regions .. where the land is so poisoned ..
that ANY products raised on those lands should be seen as 'suspect'
(in a bad way .. arsenic is only one example of the poisons that are leeched from the soil and absorbed by the flora and the fauna raised in that area) ..
BE CAREFUL with your purchases ..
know where it is sourced from
know that area's history ..
With good judgement .. you can find a safe source of foodstocks ..
just have to be willing to ask the questions BEFORE you make the purchase ..
and obtain from sources I Trust ..
(and do most of my supplemental needs via the Farm Markets (including the Amish Markets) ..
On top of that, many traditional Asian "medicines" and aphrodisiacs contain arsenic (along with lead and mercury). Some Asian countries also use arsenic in the animal feed and meat industry as a cheap substitute for antibiotics, and the highly contaminated rice hulls are used as animal food. And to make sure that all this arsenic is spread throughout the entire food chain, both animal and human feces are used as fertilizer.
PS: China is the only country that regulates the maximum amount of arsenic in rice. China is also the 3rd largest rice exporter in the world. I wonder what happens to the Chinese rice that is too contaminated for the domestic market?
