Your poll information is inaccurate. Rice grown in regions where cotton was sprayed with arsenic-laced pesticides 100 years ago is found to contain inordinately high levels of arsenic. Rice grown in other places was not a consideration in the research study you are failing to fully disclose. Rice grown in California and in Asia is not a problem.

Arsenic causes DNA damage and is a proven cancer causer. Arsenic in the soil is taken up by crops. The USA environment agency, controlled by giant corporations, allows arsenic and other toxic heavy metals to be sold as "top soil"...even as "organic top soil". Our corporate controlled government even goes along with putting arsenic in chicken feed so than chicken in the supermarkets are full of arsenic. (Chickens don't live long enough to develop cancer from arsenic ..and it kills parasites). Corporations control our government...and the USA is becoming more of a disaster every day...Once wireless two-way "smart" meters have remote control of the electricity and appliances in our homes we will lose the last shred of freedom we have.

Two billion people eat rice every day. How many show any sign of arsenic poisoning?

As the TC says, the problem traces back to fields that were previously used for cotton and sprayed with arsenic-based pesticides. Before we had biodegradable pesticides, the stuff would last pretty much forever. Whatever is grown in those fields will have arsenic in it. Over time, the effect will be diminished by harvesting crops. Of course if people or animals eat the crops, it goes right into the food chain.

One option is to take the fields with unacceptable levels of arsenic and use them for cotton or corn for non-food applications (ethanol, corn stoves).

Just like the mercury in fish is microscopic, then they force mercury filled light bulbs on us that if broken can poison with thousands of miligrams. Ask yourself why is Govt "finding" all these bad things in our food supply?

It was always there. Lundberg rice in California has evens less of it in it. The natural occurring arsenic is not absorbed in the body any way.

I may wash it off more but we have arsenic in our drinking water so what's the use? Just eat it. If it were large enough doses I am sure our overpaid and underworked Dpt of Agriculture would have told us.

Now that I have this information, I plan to do the same thing. However, I don't know if that would make any difference because the Arsenic might be inside the Rice kernel. This Article might be helpful though. Link: http://www.stltoday.com/news/...

The Department of Agriculture is run by Monsanto.....they have no problem with giving us cancer. After all, we don't drop dead immediately...so just try and prove they are responsibe...yeah, just try. ha ha ha ha. Arsenic in the water is probably how arsenic got in rice to begin with. Crops are irrigaged with arsenic. Cancer rates are soaring. Oh well, that'll get rid of a lot of those annoying old people that aren't paying enough taxes.

the arsenic found in the rice can be broken down by the human body

Kinda=Sorta, Here is a lengthy but informative article that "kinda" says that but goes much further , suggesting we need some in our bodies to help us function. There is also a lot of arsenic in the shot they give you when you have a major heart attack to help keep you alive until they can perform surgery . Rice is one of my staples and I plan to eat flied lice for many more years. M

Can't find anything where we need any arsenic to help us function. Arsenic displaces stuff we need to function...You won't get an arsenic deficiency. Oops..look at this..In Austria, there lived the so-called "arsenic eaters of Styria", who ingested doses far beyond the lethal dose of arsenic trioxide without any apparent harm. Arsenic is thought to enable strenuous work at high altitudes, e.g. in the Alps.....Can you imagine being that desperate.
