As a rule, I generally like the book better than the movie. Don't get me wrong, DWJ is just as awesome a writer as those other novel-into-movie authors (Better?). But Miyaza... As a rule, I generally like the book better than the movie. Don't get me wrong, DWJ is just as awesome a writer as those other novel-into-movie authors (Better?). But Miyazaki presents a uniquely amazing plot and visual as well. The plots of both are pretty radically different, and the characters are a bit different as well. But both are absolutely incredible, and I can't compare them, so I separate them as different entities and refuse to tear myself up by trying to decide.

What I do insist on is that all those who have just watched the movie go out of their way to get the book. It's worth your while. (more)

I was honestly disappointed with the alternative. How can ANYONE compare Miley Cyrus to My Chemical Romance? She doesn't have any of their honestly, going instead for the trademark sparkly, squeaky-clean, HSM-type, deathly OVERRATED Disney Channel "music." Are there any genuine emotions in "her" songs that are actually hers? I highly, highly doubt she writes her own songs, and even if she does, they're all pretty much the same: no real depth. She has none of the brilliancy that MCR has, in ANY given subject. Quite honestly, her voice isn't at all that great. It annoys me to tears. While I personally think Gerard has a great voice, I don't try to deny that others don't think so. But even if they DO think that, can anyone deny that he at least puts emotion into it? That he and all of the boys in the band have a taste for flair and art with their shows, their music. They are true-to-the-bone artists, and who is she? A poser wannabe "rock" star.

MCR have built up their own... she had a famous daddy and Disney Channel do that work for her.

In conclusion: MCR kicks Miley's ass. (more)
