Honestly, I'm getting nervous now. In only eight days, I leave to go to Washington DC, getting there at about 4:00 PM Eastern time on Friday the 16th. And, apparently, it's cold as frick (I would say hell, but it doesn't really work...) in DC. D: Honestly, if I feel cold here in California, only God knows how bad it will be in DC. -shivers- I can't even remember the last time I felt anything below the forties. But enough about the weather. I honestly can't believe that I'm going to be THERE, right in the middle of history being made! This is probably one of the most important Inaugurations of all time, and I'll be there to witness it. Not only witness, but actually be apart of it! The SFGC in conjunction with the SFBC will be singing six songs, for about 20 minutes (ten till ten to ten after ten AM Eastern, which is ten till seven etc in Western time). And people like Aretha Franklin and Yo Yo Ma are going to be performing! So, we have the layout. There are gonna be about four platforms on the steps of the Capitol building that day. On the first is the Military bands. On the second is Obama himself, and those involved with the swearing-in. We're on the third, and I think Aretha and Yo Yo Ma (ma. XD) will be on the fourth. This is the tentative description we received. I'm so excited, but it's really intense because we would have had a week and a half to practice all the songs we will be singing from memory. We have three memorized (we those three on Tuesday, by the way) and the next three are due during the next week (we got those yesterday). Not only are we practicing this music, but we have another really important concert with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra about another week and a half after we return, so we have to get started and memorized those as well. All of this is extremely stressful, but it will pay off in the end. I mean, we'll all be able to tell stories to our grandkids about stuff they'll be studying in their American History classes, saying we were not only there in the era, but actually physically present! I can't believe this. It's too amazing, and I'm so honored and happy. I wasn't so happy to be working with the SFBC at first, mostly because they make us sound quite a bit younger than we sound alone (I'll write what my feeling are at the end in poetic form!*), but I don't mind it too much now. I mean, it wouldn't make sense for just the Girls Chorus to be going, since were supposed to be displaying the diversity and hope of future America. Or something like that. The good news about the weather is that New York weather is supposed to be beautiful in April. *Evelyn won't mope because of the boys because of the Hope they will witness with joy.

Heh. Haven't blogged yet, which is pretty. odd. to me. The last few days of vacation are seriously bringing out the creative juice in me - I've written like three things in the past week, which is like an all time record for me. I have to say, writing the second one made me happier than the others... perhaps because I like the "style"? (If I even have a style...) I like it because it's longer than a drabble or ficlet, but shorter than my usual one-shots (though it's the same size as some). I don't know. This size feels perfect, because it allows me to put in stuff and make it bigish, but keep it smallish enough so that I don't feel... trapped in writing it, so therefore I have a larger chance of finishing it! (yeah, it's hard to explain) Anyhoo, enough about the writing (though it can be found at www.fanfiction.net/~xxeviexx if you want to check it out. *cough*) Evie has a new favorite fictional character, joining the ranks with Artemis Fowl, Ian O'Shea, Edward Cullen, Remus Lupin, and James Potter! It's Wizard Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. I recently ordered the novel on Amazon, and can't wait for it to get here. But I saw the movie, and I loved it. I don't care if he's a drawing, he's effing sexy. His eyes. His changing haiiiiir (kinda reminds me of scruffy!Artemis with his black hair). *__* Makes me want to write fanfiction, but I'm waiting for the book. I don't want to seem like a poser because I just saw the movie. -_- But at least I can draw! Which I did. In my own style, because I fail at anime. Yes. Nice first blog. :D
