You expect a great evolution of technology over the next 5 years?

Soon you will be seeing Trans-humans. A.k.a Part human part machine/Post human.
Transhumanism is the belief that we should

With cyberconsciousness it will be possible, for the first time, for a person to live forever in the real world. This unique, technologically empowered form of living forever is called techno-immortality.

Mindclones are the key to techno-immortality. Imagine that before a person’s body dies he or she creates a mindclone. After bodily death is declared the person will insist that he or she is still alive, albeit as a mindclone in cyberspace. The surviving mindclone will think, feel and act just as did the deceased original.

Okay, but we have a little problem of overpopulation there ......

People who say that the world is overpopulated are scary to talk to. Life is great and there is plenty of room for us all. The world is much bigger than you think.

The entire population of the world is what, almost 7 billion? And the square footage of Texas is what? It is 268,581 square miles(land and water), so if we each had exactly 1,000 square feet (the size of my home, just for comparison--it's actually 1800 sqft, so I'd be missing a room), would we really be able to fit that many homes in Texas?

Alaska is even bigger--over 600,000 square miles.

Depends. More and more of civilzation is becoming lazier every day. Maybe it can happen, or maybe not.

It is. Today no one dares to write letters. It has e-mail .....

which sucks. I always wanted a penpal, but the safety systems cost money to do so and everyone just rather do e-mails. :(

In the US, military technology is 44 years ahead of civilian technology. I cannot give an answer for this. We all may be dead in 5 years.

If you look at the rate of advancement, it has been increasing rapidly.
I don't know how much or little attention you pay to the tech world, but there is a lot of Natural Language interfaces in the Pipe lines, and a new generation of chips within a few years.

My knowledge in this area are not as advanced, but do not believe in such great advances. Thanks.

I don't expect any type of advancements (technological, social, economical) until January 2013. Then I expect a great many things will seemingly begin to progress under their own power.
